I was in the hallway at work today and a woman yelled “Happy V.D.” to her friend down the hall. I started laughing, but what I really wanted to do was tell her that “that doesn’t mean what you think it means.” And then, of course, my friends and I spent the rest of the day saying “Happy V.D.” to each other.
In other news, I wore some clothes today. These clothes, in fact:
You may notice that I’m not wearing pink or red. I know that today is the EBEW Pink and Red Challenge, but I purposely skipped it because pink and red together on Valentine’s Day is just too on-the-nose for my taste. I went with blue(s) and burgundy instead.
I’ve paired this day dress (vintage Karin Stevens, thrifted) with this cardigan (a.n.a via JC Penney) and belt (Gap) before, but with my riding boots. Today I added teal tights (Hue ) and burgundy shoes (Naya “Jada” via Nordstrom) instead. And I love it. I wasn’t sure about the burgundy shoes, but I think they definitely work. And we can pretend I wore them in the spirit of Valentine’s Day (I didn’t).
Happy Tuesday, Everyone! And Happy V.D!!

love this whole look!!! very very pretty...Happy V.D LOL xo
ReplyDeleteThis is possibly my favorite outfit I've ever seen on anyone ever. I love those shades of blue! You're just adorable :)
ReplyDeleteYou're the cutest thing ever! You win! Adorable shoes. Love the outfit!
ReplyDeleteThis is soooo beautiful! I love all the blues together, such a cute look!
ReplyDeleteHappy V.D. to you too, hahaha.
P.S.: Just as I started typing this, I got an email for your comment on my blog :]
Heh. "V.D." My passport may indicate I'm 44, but I am totally twelve, max.
ReplyDeleteLove all the blues, and I think the burgundy shoes are smashing!
Muhahahaha. Love the palette. Want to steal your dress. Want to steal your shoes. Are you a sasquatch? It's probably futile to steal your shoes if they won't fit my sasquatch feet.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the time my husband told me about the STI he got at work. At his work that means "short-term incentive." I still giggle when I think about it.
Blue blue blue! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather, who was an OBGYN, would always tell everyone "Happy VD Day!" Hehee.
This is great, love the (almost) monochrome palette. That being said, you always look great. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to have a break from all the pink & red out there. I can do red & green at Christmas, but red & pink at Valentine's day seems too cliche (I'm a hippocrite for saying one is ok & not the other, but whatever). Have a great Valentine's Day never-the-less!
ReplyDeleteThat dress was an amazing thrift find! I love the cut and cute little print. I used to think that holiday dressing was the sole domain of elementary school teachers but I went for it today. :) (It helps, like you pointed out, that JCrew has a print almost EXACTLY like it.)
ReplyDeleteHappy V.D.! And S.T.D (Sweet Thrifted Dress) Day!

HAHAHAH! I was actually thinking about that myself this morning. I thought of wishing people a happy VD since it's shorter than saying the whole thing out, then yeah... what kind of venereal disease would be happy?
ReplyDeleteWhat's making me happy is your super cute outfit! i really love all the shades of blue, especially the tights! and then pop! RED SHOES! holy moly. I love them.

I love it- just the colour I need after nigh-overdosing on my new-found love for pink today! The burgundy shoes are just the right touch to add another colour to the mix!
ReplyDeletethose boots are kickin! v.d. day means one thing. even when they say v day, my mind associates that with something else too.
ReplyDeleteIt's been such a relief to find a post with no pink or red...Wait, is that belt a burgundy color? And the shoes?
ReplyDeleteHappy V-D- classic ha! I will admit I felt a little silly all in pink and red (even my outerwear) but hey it's once a year I am cheesy so why not? ;) I LOVE your look though- very chic and the burgundy and navy blue looks beautiful together!
ReplyDeleteI like this combination a lot more. The riding boots just let your legs disappear somehow. I never really like outfits where boots end right below the skirt hem. Also, you got some great legs, show them off!! This combination however looks super cute and I like how you boycotted the Valentine's day mayhem. Really pretty dress!
ReplyDeleteLOL at Happy "V.D."! Love the polka dots! It's such a classy look!
ReplyDeleteOoh gorgeous dress, so pretty! I spend last night at work, thats the way to go I think! :)
ReplyDeleteoh my we both wore blue on V.D....ha ha! This is one of my most favorite looks on you. Stunning, the fit, colors and accessories are gorgeous. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteDang. Those is some cute shoes!
