Mid-Week Musts: Violet and Blue and The Amazon Too

Every week (or, you know, when I remember), I'll be posting a weekly list of my musts; must have, must read, must listen, must watch.  This week's must-haves feature a heavy dose of violet and blue:

Violet & Blue

LOFT coat (tall available & currently an extra 60% off )
Kate Spade New York studs

And today's must-read features a heavy dose of the Amazon:

The Mapmaker's Wife is one of the books I read during my blogging break and I loved it.  LOVED.  It.  I don't read a lot (or any, really) non-fiction, but this book is fantastic.  I loved all of it, even the science-y parts that I'm not sure I fully comprehended; the story is just that good.

If you haven't yet read this book, do.  It's great.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Literary Stylings #7 - Case Files

I didn't have time (I forgot) to list the books I read for this month's Literary Stylings Link Party, but one of them was Case Histories, by Kate Atkinson:

Case Histories is the book that I chose to base today's outfit on.  Specifically, my outfit is a recreation of an outfit worn to a funeral:

As you can see, it starts of quite funereal.

And then it goes all to heck:

Dress: eShakti (same fabric, different cut)  Tights: DKNY (similar)  Boots: Nine West Darsy

Needless to say, the all-to-heck part is my favorite part of this look.  Partially because bright red legs remind me of red-legged birds, like the red-legged honeycreeper, and partially because in the book, the way the outfit is written about makes me laugh.  The woman wearing the completely inappropriate bright red tights to a funeral notices a man noticing her tights and thinks he's looking at her bright red legs because he's into her.  But, the man is like "what the eff?  Who wears bright red tights to a funeral?!!"  And, in the book the moment is even better because it's summer and she's wearing bright red woolen tights.  It's pretty great.

And, really, the book in general, is pretty great.  It's dark, but it's well done and I plan on reading more Kate Atkinson in the future.  I think this book is the first in a series, so I think I'm going to try to hunt down the next one.

And now it's your turn.  If you read a book in December or January and it inspired an outfit, I'd love to see it.   You can link up here:

I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Happy Tuesday, All!

Foxier Than Ever

Hello, Dearest Most Darling Reader Friends!  As you can see, I am back!  And I'm foxier than ever.

Well, at least my sweatshirt is:

I know this is a pretty neutral outfit for me, but I just love that little sleeping fox and that scarf is, well, the best thing ever.

Don't worry though, I didn't give color up completely during my month off.  In fact, I'll be wearing some tomorrow for my Literary Stylings Link Party.

Yes.  That's right.  It's happening.  I apologize for the late notice, but I do hope you all can join me!

Happy Monday, All!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Dearest Reader Friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.

My holidays were good, but exhausting.  So, I'm going to take a bit of a blogging break this month.  Unfortunately, this means I won't be hosting my Literary Stylings link party next week, but it, and I, should be back in February.

xoxo,
