Worth the Cold Toes

So, I apologize for my extended absence for the last week or so.  I went back to Oregon, and while the trip wasn't especially sudden, I also didn't bother to plan anything for the blog while I was gone, so, yeah.  Sorry about that.

But, I'm back now, and I'm wearing cute pants:

I'm also wearing sandals so my toes were cold most of the morning.  But, the weather got into the 70s this afternoon so my tootsies were just fine.

And thank goodness too because I love these sandals with these pants:

Sweater: LOFT (similar)  Blouse: LOFT (similar)
Pants: LOFT  Sandals: Steve Madden (similar)

This outfit is totally worth the cold toes.

Wednesday Ends in Y

I've decided to limit my print mixing to those days that end in "Y".  Happily, today is just such a day and I'm taking advantage of that fact by mixing some prints:

This time it's palm and stripes:

Palm and stripes and t-strap sandals:

Skirt: LOFT (similar short) (similar midi)  Blouse: LOFT (same blouse, different print)            Sandals: Camper (similar)

Because today is Wednesday and Wednesday ends in "Y."

What Owl Dreams Are Made Of

Today's outfit features teeny, tiny gingham, polka dots and a wee little owl:

Here, you can see it better in the close up, especially the owl:

His name is Carl.  And he is thrilled to be a part of this pattern mix.

But, who can blame him?  I mean, it's tiny gingham and polka dots, Folks:

Blouse: Old Navy  Owl Belt: thrifted (similar in pink)
Skirt: thrifted vintage  Sandals: "Bali" c/o LTS

I have it on good authority that gingham and polka dots are what owl dreams are made of.

Blurry Black and White

What's black and white and blurry all over?  This dress in the wind:

That's right, the print on this dress is actually black and white, not blurry abstract gray:

But, this print proved to be extremely difficult to photograph, especially with all the darned wind.

Really though, it's rather pretty:

But, mostly, it's blurry:

Dress: thrifted vintage
Belt: second-hand vintage  Sandals: Isola

They're Elephants

On my skirt, I mean:

They're elephants:

I'm also wearing hearts and polka dots.  But on my skirt, they're elephants.

Specifically, they are thrifted, vintage, pleated elephants:

Skirt: via Vintage by the Pound
Blouse: LOFT  Shoes: Via Spiga "Nalo" Wedges

And I think they're adorable.

Optimistic Ankle Baring

After a wet, cold, rainy & sometimes snowy patch, I think Spring may finally be here.  In fact, I'm so optimistic about it, that I brought out my ankles:

As everyone knows, optimistic ankle baring is one of the first true signs of Spring.

I chose to bare my ankles with these bright blue pants:

I love these pants.  I bought them on a whim, because they were blue.  I was uncertain of how versatile they'd be, but I want to wear them with everything.  Do they go with everything?  Maybe, maybe not.  But I want to wear them with everything.

And they certainly go with this dark floral blouse:

Blouse: Nordstrom Rack  Belt: v.old Macys
Pants: Gap (similar) Shoes: Via Spiga "Nalo" Wedge

But, I'm pretty sure they'll go with a bunch of other stuff too.  In fact, I imagine we'll be seeing exposed ankles all season long.

Layered Prints

I'm wearing layered prints today:

Now, you're probably looking at this and thinking, "Really, Gracey?  A turtleneck and a sweater?  In April?"

To which I'd reply, "Yes, because snow":

That's right, snow.  And quite a bit too.  We had a dusting on Sunday, some people got some Tuesday night, and now this.  And I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow as well.

So, yeah.  Snow.  And layered prints:

Stripes: Old Navy (similar)  Sweater: Vila via ASOS
Belt: J. Crew  Pants: Gap  Boots: Franco Sarto "Eminent"

Because, well, snow.

Wind in the Florals

I'm back to another vintage floral dress dress today:

And the weather is back to wind.

Thankfully, I'm also back to tights, or this would have been an unpleasant photo session indeed.  As it was, I barely managed to keep from flashing the school children walking by.  I might look calm and collected in the photos above, but this is what it really looked like today:

At least until the wind died down a bit and I was able to get something a bit better:

Dress: thrifted vintage  Cardigan: thrifted vintage
Belt: thrifted (similar)  Boots: gifted (similar)

And then it started raining and I had to give up entirely.

Snow Birds

So, it's still not snowing here in Pittsburgh, but it was snowing when I wore this outfit two weeks ago.  And since I've been rather lax about taking new outfit photos, you're getting these oldies but goodies:

I mean, you can't be too mad when I'm offering up double grid print and birds.

Yes, that's right, birds:

This scarf is covered with birds.  And I think it pairs perfectly with the black and white grid print.  And with the camel jacket.

Blouse: LOFT (similar)  Skirt: LOFT (similar)
Scarf: vintage thrifted  Jacket: thrifted J. Crew (similar)  Boots: Franco Sarto "Eminent"

Although... maybe it's the red-ness of the scarf that makes it perfect, as opposed to the bird-ness.  Eh, either way, I love this combination.

And, hopefully, next time I post, it'll be something more seasonally-appropriate.  Don't get your hopes up though; March is awfully early for Pittsburgh to give up on snowing.

Happy Monday, All!

Well-Placed Medallions

As it turns out, my co-worker was right and it's actually pretty nice here so far this week.  However, I still have some outfits I wore during colder weather that I haven't posted.  So today you're getting an outfit from last week featuring a vintage scarf-print blouse:

Specifically, a vintage scarf-print blouse with some well-placed medallions:

I like to think the designer was trying to make a point that a top doesn't have to be low-cut to draw attention to the girls.  Or they just like medallion covered tatas.  Who knows?  The 80s were a crazy time.

Boob-enhancing pattern and all, I still love this blouse.  Scarf-print blouses just make me happy.  They're so over the top and sometimes boob-tastic, but still fun:

Top: thrifted vintage  Skirt: sold out LOFT (similar)
Tights: Assets (similar)  Boots: Franco Sarto "Eminent"

The Spring Version

I first wore this outfit last Fall:

Today I'm wearing the Spring version:

Well, the almost-Spring version.  I'm still not convinced it's actually Spring and so will keep laying like my life depends on it.

Because, as you likely noticed, the Spring version of this outfit is just the Fall version with some added layers.  But, that's okay because in this case, added layers mean added colors:

I mean, if there was anything the Fall version of this look was missing was more colors, right?

Skirt & Top: H&M  Cardigan: LOFT
Scarf: La Fiorentina  Belt: thrifted  Boots: v. old Kenneth Cole Reaction

Right.

Happy Monday, All!
