A Whole Lotta Denim

My initial thought when I first got this dress was, "Whoa, that's a whole lotta denim":

My second thought was, "Ooh, snaps.  I love snaps."  My third was, "Crap, I hope my thighs don't take those snaps as a sign to make a run for it."

And my fourth thought was, "That'll be so cute paired with cognac boots."  And it was:

It was also cute with a floral-print wool scarf:

Was it still a whole lotta denim?

Dress: Gap  Scarf: thrifted vintage
Belt: thrifted vintage  Boots: v. old Steve Madden (similar save, splurge)

Yes, but that's okay, because the snaps stayed snapped, my thighs stayed put, and the dress looks cute with cognac boots and a colorful scarf.

Mostly Impractical

This dress is one of those pieces that I feel has a limited window of wear:

It's a thicker knit so it doesn't really work for warm weather.  But, it's short-sleeved so it doesn't really work for cold weather either.

But, on a day like today that starts out cool, but not cold, and gets warmer, but not warm, it was perfect:

And perfect with this scarf:

Still though, if I'm honest, this dress really is mostly impractical:

Dress: Lands' End (similarly impractical)
Scarf: thrifted (similar) Belt: thrifted  Boots: Gifted (similar)

For much of the year anyway.

Because They Go With Everything

I'm wearing those blue pants again:

Why?  Well, mostly because they're blue, but also because I think they really might truly go with everything.

I mean, I've worn them with peach, with a dark floral print and today with whatever color this is.

Scarf: thrifted silk (similar)  Sweater: LOFT (similar)
Pants: Gap (similar)  Shoes: v. old Corso Como (similar)

And I added some additional color with the scarf:

I'm telling you, Folks.  Blue pants.  Because they go with everything.

The Spring Version

I first wore this outfit last Fall:

Today I'm wearing the Spring version:

Well, the almost-Spring version.  I'm still not convinced it's actually Spring and so will keep laying like my life depends on it.

Because, as you likely noticed, the Spring version of this outfit is just the Fall version with some added layers.  But, that's okay because in this case, added layers mean added colors:

I mean, if there was anything the Fall version of this look was missing was more colors, right?

Skirt & Top: H&M  Cardigan: LOFT
Scarf: La Fiorentina  Belt: thrifted  Boots: v. old Kenneth Cole Reaction

Right.

Happy Monday, All!

Double Plaid and a Big Ol' Tassel

It's true.  I'm wearing double plaid and a big ol' tassel:

Quite possibly the biggest of big ol' tassels, but, I can't help it, it makes me happy.

Especially when paired with double plaid:

The skirt is vintage wool, thrifted, of course and I think it pairs perfectly with this plaid shirt:

I finished the look with my trusty riding boots:

Shirt: Banana Republic  Skirt: thrifted vintage
Scarf: La Fiorentina (also in red) Belt: Michael Michael Kors (similar) Boots: Born Crown (similar)

And, of course, the big ol' tassel.  As one does.

Shocking Pink

This dress is one my favorites to wear during the winter:

The color is just the best for gray days.  And when paired with gray accessories:

Also, even though it only has three-quarter sleeves, it's very warm and made even warmer with the addition of a wool scarf:

But, mostly, I just love the shocking pink color:

Dress: thrifted vintage (similar)  Scarf: thrifted or gifted
Belt: J.Crew  Tights: HUE (similar)  Boots: Circa Joan & David  (similar)

And, of course, by shocking, I mean shockingly good.

The Versatility of Pumpkin

Although I'm often extolling the virtues of orange, even I recognize that it's not an easy color to wear.  It seems limited in it's color pairings and pairing it with basic black invites Halloween references.  However, I'm hear to tell you that orange is actually surprisingly versatile.

Especially pumpkin orange, like this cardigan:

The last time I wore it, I wore it with a printed dress:

This time I wore it with basic neutral pieces, including, yes, black jeans:

And I added the most pumpkin-friendly silk scarf I own:

Scarf: thrifted silk

I'm telling you, Reader Friends, you really can pair orange with nearly anything.  Even black:

Cardigan: LOFT  Shirt: Nordstrom (similar)
Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar  Boots: Born (similar)

Feeling Plummy

I was feeling rather plummy the other day:

And yes, it's too cold for open-toed shoes.  But, as I'm sure you know, when you're feeling plummy, that feeling doesn't end at your feet.

So, of course I had to pair my plum pants with plum shoes:

I also added a sweater that doesn't match, but goes really really well:

And then there's the scarf; I don't think it contains the color of the pants or the sweater, but it still serves to tie the two together:

Pants: LOFT  Sweater: LOFT
Scarf: sister gifted (similar)  Shoes: Franco Sarto (similar)

Prints are just the best for that, aren't they?

Stripes and Layers

I pulled out my fall/winter clothes last weekend and that's always fun because I find things I forgot that I even owned.  Like this dress:

It's a sort of shapeless cut and so not the most flattering to my figure, but layering a jacket over it helps that issue:

Dress: Old Navy (similar)  Jacket: LOFT (similar)
Scarf: LOFT (similar)  Boots: Born (similar
At least that's what they say.

Also, in case you're curious, no, my scarf doesn't match my dress:

But, it goes.  And, as we all know, that's all that matters.

Scout Leader of Love

I feel like a scout leader in this outfit:

Blouse: Old Navy  Cardigan: LOFT (similar)
Skirt: vintage, thrifted (similar)  Sandals: Isola (similar)

But, not just any scout leader.  The hearts on my vintage Hallmark scarf make me feel like the scout leader of love:

Vintage Hallmark scarf, thrifted

So, yeah, scout leader of love.  That's a thing right?

I think so.
