That Tapestry Dress

Now that it's gotten colder here in Western PA, I find myself wanting to wear this tapestry dress all the time:

I want to wear it layered under things.  And over things.  And, as is the case with today's look, both over and under things:

I just love the bright print on the black background:

And I love how warm it is.  It's a heavy, woven fabric, like, well, a tapestry.  Or, I guess, upholstery.

I don't think I'll be calling it my "upholstery dress" because it just doesn't sound as fancy:

Dress: eShakti (similar)  Top: LOFT  Blazer: thrifted Pendleton (similar
Earrings: Macy's  Tights: SPANX  Boots: Franco Sarto "Eminent"

Make no mistake, though, I would gladly take a side chair or some throw pillows in this fabric.

Blush and Plaid

This is probably one of the most matchy-matchy outfits I've ever worn:

And I don't care, I love it.

Mostly because I've been waiting for ages to wear this skirt:

It's a vintage Pendleton that I thrifted before I left Oregon last year.  It spent the next several months in storage, and by the time it made it out, it was too warm for wool.

I'm happy to announce that it is no longer too warm for wool:

In fact, it's the perfect weather not only for wool, but for trench coats and riding boots as well:

Boots: Born (similar)  Trench: Banana Republic (similar)

White for Winter

Although I don't generally abide by the no-white-after-Labor-Day fashion "rule" I also don't generally wear my white jeans during the winter.  But, only because I can't quite figure out how.  And then I decided to give it a shot anyway:

After I put this together, I realized that I was, of course, making wearing white jeans in winter harder than it is.  They're just jeans.  Jeans are great for winter!  And white goes with everything!

Like red!  And blue!

And more blue!

Scarf: gifted handmade  Earrings: LOFT

And riding boots!

Jeans: Old Navy  Chambray: Gap  (similar)
Blazer: vintage Pendleton, thrifted  (similar)
Boots: Born Crown (similar)

Seriously, I have got to stop over-thinking things.

Vintage Pendleton

I've said it before, but my mom is a master thrifter.  Seriously, she is pretty much the best.  And I'm very lucky to be the recipient of some of her awesome thrifted finds.  Like this vintage Pendleton jacket:

She gave it to me this summer and Oregon never did get quite cold enough for me to wear it while I was there.  But, I don't have that problem here in Pittsburgh where every day is cold enough for Pendleton.  Hooray?

I don't wear a lot of brown but I love the colors of this jacket:

Probably because the brown is accompanied by rust and blue.  Man, I love rust and blue.

And I love this jacket:

Jacket: vintage gifted  Shirt: Nordstrom (similar)
Jeans: Old Navy  Boots: Kenneth Cole Reaction (similar)

So, you'll probably be seeing it a lot on the blog.  Just a fair warning.

Elastic

These are my new shoes:

They are from a brand called 80%20.  And they make me feel 80% elated and 20% ecstatic; they make me feel… elastic.  They came in the mail yesterday and I carried them around the house for an hour cooing, petting the shoes and feeling elastic.

And of course I had to wear them today:

I paired the booties (80%20 “Tessa” in Cream Kiwi via Piperlime) with an oversized white shirt (thrifted) layered under a wool, double-breasted cardigan (vintage Pendleton, thrifted) and black leggings.  I added a bit of color with a red-orange beaded necklace, but otherwise let the shoes shine.

In exercise news, I went back to pilates last night.  I fell off my mat twice.  I don’t know.  Don’t ask.

Happy Wednesday, All!
