A Good Combination of Things

I don't know if it's the heat or my general discontent (I still miss Oregon), but getting dressed has been difficult for me as of late.  This face demonstrates how I feel about most of my clothes lately:

But, I have to say that I actually like today's outfit:

I mean, double pockets, so yeah.  But, also because it seems, to me, to be a good combination of things.

For example, the combination of the dress with the oxidized belt:

That's a good combination.  As is the combination of the dress with the cardigan.

And the dress with the sandals:

Dress: thrifted (similar) Cardigan: LOFT (similar)
Earrings: gifted (similar)  Belt: vintage  Sandals: Dune London "Ivanna"

Yes, I'd say that it's an all-around good combination of things.

Late Summer Layers

So, it turns out that yelling "boot season is here!" doesn't actually make it boot season.  I know, weird; I totally thought that would work too.

But, it didn't, so I'm back in sandals:

Not that I'm complaining; I love these sandals and am happy to get a little more wear out of them this year before boxing them up for the next  nine months:

Dress: Gap (similar)  Necklace: Modcloth (similar)
Vest: Old Navy (similar)  Sandals: Summit White Mountain

Still, I was awfully excited to wear some boots.  But, it's just too darned hot.

I did throw in some layers though:

So, take that, lingering heat!

Pastels and Earth Tones

These colors probably shouldn't be paired together, but I did it anyway:

I mean, pastels and earth tones?  What was I thinking...

And yet, I swear this totally works:

Or not.  I'm not an expert on color combinations that make sense.  No, I'm better at those color combinations that make no sense at all.

Like pastels and earth tones together:

Pants: LOFT (similar)  Top: TJ Maxx (similar)
Cardigan: LOFT  Earrings: Modcloth, sold out (similar)
Shoes: FRYE (exact) (similar) (vegan option)

That's my specialty.

Striped and Layered

I haven't worn this dress much lately because it can be a little "boobs ahoy!" for my tastes.  But, it's so comfortable, I want to wear it all the time.  Today I figured out how to have my boobs and hide them too:

(This is sometimes a good thing for a gal to know how to do, depending on their work environment and general level of comfort with exposed cleavage).

I layered an open-weave sweater over the dress and belted it because the sweater is a bit boxy and I had no waist without the belt:

This worked perfectly for me given that my work environment is somewhat-conservative-business-casual and I'm also somewhat conservative on the cleavage front:

Dress: eShakti (similar knit) (similar maxi) (similar orange)
Sweater: Old Navy (similar)  Belt: Old Navy (similar)  Sandals: Camper

I still get to wear my fabulously comfy striped dress, but without having to worry that the girls were going to head out for a night on the town.

Happy Thursday, All!
