Color Confusion

Modcloth says the color of this cardigan is "rust":

But, I don't think it is.  To my mind, rust has a little more orange to it.

In fact, I thought it was brick... right up until the point when I wore it next to some bricks:

Turns out it's neither rust, nor brick.  I think it might be burgundy.  Which is good because I was hoping to find a burgundy cardigan for fall.  Of course, I was also hoping to find a rust cardigan for fall, so that search continues.

But, whatever color it is, it's perfect for fall.  And perfect mixed with a wool skirt and chambray shirt:

So, I'm not complaining about the color.  I'm just confused:

Cardi: Modcloth   Top: LOFT (similar)
Tights: SPANX  Skirt: thrifted vintage (similar)  Boots: Born Crown (similar)

But, that's okay.  I'm used to it.

Printed Dress + Bright Cardigan

I have a feeling that this particular outfit formula of printed dress + bright cardigan will be one I wear quite a bit this fall:

It's easy, it's colorful and the layers are good for those fall days that start off chilly and then get warmer.

And this particular print is a delight:

It's practically upholstery, which is nice because if I outgrow it, I can make it into an awesome throw pillow.  Reduce, reuse, recycle, right?

In the meantime, however, I'll just settle for wearing it as an adorable dress:

Dress: eShakti (see similar below)
Cardigan: Modcloth  Earrings: Handmade (similar)  Flats: Old Navy (similar)

Late Summer Layers

So, it turns out that yelling "boot season is here!" doesn't actually make it boot season.  I know, weird; I totally thought that would work too.

But, it didn't, so I'm back in sandals:

Not that I'm complaining; I love these sandals and am happy to get a little more wear out of them this year before boxing them up for the next  nine months:

Dress: Gap (similar)  Necklace: Modcloth (similar)
Vest: Old Navy (similar)  Sandals: Summit White Mountain

Still, I was awfully excited to wear some boots.  But, it's just too darned hot.

I did throw in some layers though:

So, take that, lingering heat!

Printed and Vested

Eventually I'll stop wearing these olive sandals with everything:

But, not today, folks.  Not today.

Nope.  Today I'm wearing them with my new printed pants and a vest:

In my defense, they just seem to go with everything I'm wearing this summer.

I mean, just look how well they go with these pants:

Hmm.  Or maybe it's these pants that go with everything.  They're perfect with olive sandals and a navy vest:

Or is it the vest that goes with everything?

You know what?  I've decided that everything goes with everything else and that's why this outfit works:

Vest: Topshop via Nordstrom (more colors)  Pants: LOFT
Necklace: Modcloth (similar)  Sandals: FRYE (similar, vegan)

Yep, that's the key.  Everything goes with everything.

Art Teacher Chic

I feel as though I'm a pair of Birkenstocks away from looking like an art teacher in this outfit:

Which isn't to say I don't like it.  I actually really like it.  It's sort of art teacher chic:

Clashing prints?  Check.

Skirt in an awkward length?  Check.

Oversized cardigan?  Check.

Birkenstocks?  Birkenstocks...?

Nope, not for me.  I went with heeled black sandals instead:

But, really, I think it's safe to say I otherwise nailed this:

Cardigan: LOFT  Tank: LOFT (similar)
Earrings: Mata Traders  Skirt: thrifted (similar)  Sandals: Isola

Pastels and Earth Tones

These colors probably shouldn't be paired together, but I did it anyway:

I mean, pastels and earth tones?  What was I thinking...

And yet, I swear this totally works:

Or not.  I'm not an expert on color combinations that make sense.  No, I'm better at those color combinations that make no sense at all.

Like pastels and earth tones together:

Pants: LOFT (similar)  Top: TJ Maxx (similar)
Cardigan: LOFT  Earrings: Modcloth, sold out (similar)
Shoes: FRYE (exact) (similar) (vegan option)

That's my specialty.

Wavy Navy

This outfit is not just olive and navy:

No.  This is olive and wavy navy:

Please to forgive the fact that my necklace looks like I put in on in the middle of a hurricane.

And wavy navy is, as everyone knows, much fancier that just plain ol' regular navy and is therefore totally work appropriate:

You know, for a tee shirt.

Also, it's linen.  And nothing says professionalism (and wrinkles) like linen:

For the record, it's a linen-blend and therefore not that wrinkly.  Also, the wavy pattern helps disguise any wrinkles there might be.

So, really, I'm back to my original argument that wavy navy is totes office appropriate:

Totes.

Hello Again, Yellow Again

I feel like I've been wearing a lot of yellow lately.

A review of the archives shows that I have, in fact, been wearing yellow a normal amount, but it sure feels like a lot.

Maybe because I always want to wear yellow.  Especially this cardigan.  I want to wear this cardigan every day:

Top: LOFT (similar)  Cardigan: Modcloth (size up)
Pants: Gap (similar)  Shoes: Hive & Honey (similar)

It's been the perfect transition piece for spring, brightening up my blues and grays:

So, yeah, you'll probably see this cardigan a few more times in the coming weeks

Because I just can't help myself.

How about you, Reader Friends?  Have you been wearing anything on repeat lately?

Dot, Dot, Swan

I've decided that dots and swans were meant to be:

Skirt: Macy's (similar) (similar)  Blouse: Target
Cardigan: Modcloth  Shoes: Bettye by Bettye Muller (similar)

I mean, really, what goes better with a bunch of dots than a bunch of swans?

That's just some swan-y, dotty goodness right there.

And throw in a mustard cardigan?  Shoot.  It really, truly doesn't get any better.

Dots and swans, Folks.  Dots and swans are where it's at.
