Blushing Rose Quartz Linen

I can't remember what this color is called this year:

Is it still blush?  In Spring 2013 Pantone called it Linen.  This Spring, they called it Rose Quartz.

I've decided to split the difference and call it Blushing Rose Quartz Linen:

Yes.  Blushing Rose Quartz Linen, paired with cream and leopard:

Cardigan: thrifted (similar)  Blouse: LOFT (similar)
Skirt: thrifted vintage (similar)  Sandals: Kate Spade New York

That totally explains this look.

Drapes Like a Dream

It probably won't surprise you to know that I'm wearing another shirtdress today.  But, what may be surprising is that this one is just plain navy:

See?  Nothing fancy.

But, I like this one because it's a different silhouette than most of my shirtdresses.  And because, as far as navy blues go, this is a pretty blue:

Dress: thrifted (similar)  Sandals: Dune London 'Ivanna'  Earrings: Modcloth (similar)

Oh, and, it drapes like a dream.

Paisley and Navy

I like this dress for July because it still feels sort of patriotic, but also work appropriate:

Now, I'm not saying American flag cut-offs aren't work appropriate, but... American flag cut-offs probably aren't work appropriate.

A nice red paisley though?  You can probably get away with this at work:

Especially when paired with navy accessories:

See?  This outfit is both patriotic and totes work appropriate:

Dress: vintage, thrifted  Belt: Old Navy
Necklace: c/o Onecklace Earrings: gifted  Shoes: Camper

Black, White and Bright

Most everyone agrees that black and white are a classic combination.  But, to my eye, black pants and a white blazer can read less "classic style" and more "classic waiter."  To avoid being asked for water refills, I added some navy and a bright scarf to my look:

And, it seems to have worked; not a single person asked me for today's specials.

As is often the case with my outfits, the scarf is the best thing about this look:

It's vintage, silk Vena and it is, of course, thrifted.  I couldn't resist the colors or the mix of graphic patterns.

The navy shirt though; I'm not sure that was necessary:

You can hardly tell it's navy and I'm skeptical that it's bringing anything to the outfit.  I think a black shirt would probably have been fine.  Huh, I wonder if I thought this was a black shirt?  Hell, probably.

Oh, and although you can't tell from the above photos, I am also wearing shoes:

Blazer: Banana Republic (similar)  Pants: LOFT
Top: Gap (similar)  Scarf: vintage Vena  Shoes: DSW (similar pump) (similar flat)

Cap toe wedge pumps, to be exact.  Remember when cap toes were all the rage?  Are they no longer?  Do we care?  I have to say, I don't think I do.  How about you?

Like Me

I wrote a bit about this in my last guest post over at Already Pretty, but basically, my new job is the first ever that I've had with an honest-to-goodness dress code.  At my last job, they'd admonish us every summer not to wear cut-offs and/or tube tops, but that was really the extent of HR's input on what we could wear to work.  Here though, jeans are only allowed on Fridays and most women wear slacks.

Yep.  Slacks.

Up until now, I've just been avoiding the pants issue and wearing skirts and dresses, but it's really cold here.  So, yesterday, I finally ventured out in a pair of my new work pants:

And, you know what?  I felt like me in this outfit.

Sure they're just basic, some-may-say-boring black pants, but paired with one of my vintage blouses and some leopard print shoes, it's something I'd even have worn back home:

It's a little loud, it's a little different and it's totally me:

And, best of all, I didn't get sent home for wearing it.

I know, I can hardly believe it myself.

Blouse: vintage, thrifted  Pants: LOFT (I'm wearing a 12T)
Earrings: Modcloth (similar)  Shoes: Nine West Heroheart (similar)
