Worn Two Ways: Citrus

I'm kind of obsessed with citrus-y hues like citron and grapefruit lately.  And I'm even more obsessed with wearing them together.  So much so, that I've recently worn them together two different ways:

The first outfit was for a Sunday brunch:

Top: LOFT (similar)  Skirt: thrifted (similar
Earrings: via Crafty Wonderland (similar)
 Shoes: Lollipops (similar)

Changing the look up for work required more grapefruit (because of course), so I added the cardigan. I also swapped out the earrings for a less dramatic pair:

Top: LOFT (similar)  Cardigan: Target
Skirt: thrifted (similar)  Shoes: Lollipops (similar)

To be honest, I liked both looks equally.  The colors pair well and, I think, look so fresh with the white.  But, what about you, Reader Friends?  Which outfit is your favorite?

Spring Jeans and a Fox Locket

My wishlist for spring is pretty short.  In part because I don't really need anything and in part because a large portion of my budget is going to a new handbag.  I did, however, want some new skinnies in a spring color and found these from Old Navy:

Sweater: Old Navy (similar)  Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar
Shoes: Nine West (similar)

As you can see, they're a sort of robin's egg blue and they're exactly what I wanted.  And, as you can also see, they go with all the other spring colors!

I originally only thought to pair them with the citron sweater because I wanted to wear that sweater with my new fox locket:

Isn't it the cutest?!  My sister sent it to me with pictures of my sweet, big-headed nephews inside, and I love it!

So, where do the shoes come in?  Well, I just figured that the only thing to do for that much color is to add more color.  I think Coco Chanel or someone said something like that.

Happy Thursday, All!

In the Limelight

No, no, I was not cast in an off-off-off-off-times-infinity-Broadway adaptation of Imitation of Life.  Though, I have to say that I wish that I were.  I love that movie.  I wonder if the book is any good.  I bet it is.  I should try to find it and read it and cry like a frickin' baby.

Anywho, no I'm not on stage, but I am wearing lime:

Sweater: Old Navy  Pants: LOFT  Boots: Born Crown  Necklace: Vintage via Lil' Gypsy

And it's staying lighter longer... so that title totally makes sense!

Also making sense, this color combination:

I know a lot of people wouldn't think to pair a lime top with teal pants, but it works because they're both shades of green.  Very different shades of green, but still, they're green and you can generally wear two or more shades of a color together and it will work out okay.

There you go, my tip for the day.  Oh, wait, I have one more.  If you haven't ever seen Imitation of Life, watch it.

And have a Happy Tuesday, All!

How I Wear My: Neon

Today on the "How I Wear My" series (hosted by Jill and Adrienne) we're showing how we wear our neon.  With the exception of this neon dress, I tend to wear my neon in small doses like in today's look:

I paired my neon yellow sandals (Tommy Hilfiger via Piperlime) with a gray dress (thrifted).  I added a thrifted belt, a turquoise and lime scarf (Echo via Nordstrom) and lime studs (gifted (thanks, Megan Mae!)).

For more neon looks, please visit Jill at Everything Just So.

But, while you're still here, what about you, Reader Friends?  Do you wear neon?  If so, how do you wear your neon?

Cobalt & Citrus

A lot of bloggers have been craving pastels lately, but I’m not a fan of pastels (you may have read about my war on mint green).  What I’ve been craving are brights.  I gave into that craving today:

I also gave into my craving to pair brights with other brights.  Specifically, I paired cobalt with various citrus hues.   For the cobalt, I wore an open cardigan (Calvin Klein via Ideeli) and leopard flats (Nine West “Naughty”).  For the citrus, I wore a lime-striped tee (Old Navy) and a lemon yellow scarf (Old Navy) dotted with bits of lime and orange.  I grounded the whole look with gray skinnies (Gap).

It’s not the most leg-lengthening look, but it definitely satisfied my craving for bright colors.

Turquoise and Lime

The scarf is the entire point of this outfit:

I love it.  I think it flatters my skin tone like nobody’s business and what’s better than turquoise and lime?  Besides, of course, turquoise and lime with a pop of orange.  And will you look at that, I’ve given you a pop of orange.  Just don’t say I never do anything for you.

In order to let my ridiculously fabulous scarf (Echo “Ornate” via Nordstrom) be the focus, I paired it with black cropped pants (Banana Republic) and a white tee (Target).  I added cognac accents with the shoes (BC Footwear) and the braided belt (thrifted).  And, of course, the coup de grace, a pop of orange in the form of drop earrings (Alberta street vendor).  As an added bonus, I think the orange earrings tie in quite nicely with the cognac accents, proving once again that orange goes with everything.

And because we’re all big on full disclosure and transparency (no puppet regimes here, Katie) I have to admit that Rebekah (of The Mixed Up Files…) wore a pair of black trousers, a white tee and a bright scarf the other day and I loved it so much I basically copied her.  Because sometimes that’s just how we roll here at Fashion for Giants.

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!
