Fall Flame and Teal

Oddly enough, one of my favorite color combinations for fall is flame and teal:

I think this color is actually being called "Fiesta" this season, but I will always think of it as "Flame" in honor of my favorite corduroy pants ever.

And I will always want to wear it with bright blue:

Especially in the fall.

To me, this is a very "fall" color combination.  It makes me think of bright autumn skies and bright autumn leaves and pumpkins.  Basically, it's perfect for fall.

At least I think so:

Bright and Stripe-y

Like much of what I wear, today's outfit features a bright and some stripes:

In this case, a very bright bright and some very stripe-y stripes:

But, what can I say?  I like what I like:

Blouse: LOFT  Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Skirt: Ann Taylor (similar)  Sandals: Camper (similar)

And what I like is bright and stripe-y.

Brightly Striped

The weather has been pretty gloomy here in Pittsburgh this week so I thought I'd wear something bright:

Is it a lot of look?  Yes.  Do I look like I should be riding on a rainbow-maned horse named Starlight with my Sprite best friend, Twink?  Probably also yes.  But, I love this look.

Nothing combats the gloom and doom of stormy spring days like a brightly striped sweater and an even more brightly colored skirt:

Cardigan: Lands' End  Skirt: Ann Taylor
Belt: Old Navy (similar)   Sandals: Camper (similar)

Trust me folks, there's nothing better.  Sure, you may look like you abandoned the Color Kids and got a grown up job in an office.  But, it'll still make you smile.

Five for Friday: Buttercup

I've decided to stop being lazy and bring back my Five for Friday series.

Today is all about the Pantone Spring 2016 color, Buttercup.  I posted an outfit featuring Buttercup earlier today.  And now I'm sharing some of my favorite Buttercup finds for this spring.

1. LOFT Multi-Stone Earrings - I have these earrings; and have worn them several times since purchasing them.  They are the perfect injection of little yellow into a look.  Love.

2. Vince Camuto Crossbody Bag - A lot of people don't like wearing yellow.  If you're one of those people, but are still looking for a way to add a little sunshine to your spring looks, this bag is perfect.  Soft leather and the perfect size in an easy-to-wear shade.

3. Corso Como "Gladis" Espadrille Wedge - I strongly recommend a yellow sandal for summer.  There are more versatile than you might think and espadrilles are very on trend this season.

4. LOFT Pants - If you like your yellow bright, these are the pants for you!  I personally think they're super fun and a great addition to a spring wardrobe.

5. Halogen Tweed Skirt - I adore this tweedy yellow skirt like nobody's business.  The only thing stopping me from purchasing it is that I don't need another skirt.  But, it's so perfect, maybe I do...

What about you, Reader Friends?  Will you be adding a little sunshine to your wardrobe this season?

XOXO,

It's Not Terrible

I really like this outfit because it combines two of my favorite things; graphic prints and bright colors:

Or, rather a graphic print and a bright color, but you get the point.

Also, is there any color that looks better than red with black and white?

I think not.  I mean, all brights work with black and white.  And cobalt is pretty great with graphic prints, but even I, a life-long lover of cobalt, think that red is just the perfect compliment to graphic black and white.

Skirt: LOFT (similar)  Tunic: Banana Republic (similar)
Tights: SPANX  Boots: Franco Sarto "Eminent"

I guess what I'm saying is that red, well, it's not terrible.

All Bright, All Right

Alternately titled: Rainbow Brite, Madeleine Albright and Bright Here, Bright Now

As you probably guessed, I am wearing some bright colors today:

In fact, I may be wearing all the bright colors today.

I blame this skirt:

I mean, with a skirt like that, how can I pair it with anything but a bright, bright blouse?

I'm not complaining though.  All bright really is all right in my book:

Blouse: LOFT (similar)  Belt: thrifted  Shoes: Corso Como (similar)
Skirt: thrifted & upcyled Peruvian dress (mini option, black & white option, orange option)

Art Teacher Chic

I feel as though I'm a pair of Birkenstocks away from looking like an art teacher in this outfit:

Which isn't to say I don't like it.  I actually really like it.  It's sort of art teacher chic:

Clashing prints?  Check.

Skirt in an awkward length?  Check.

Oversized cardigan?  Check.

Birkenstocks?  Birkenstocks...?

Nope, not for me.  I went with heeled black sandals instead:

But, really, I think it's safe to say I otherwise nailed this:

Cardigan: LOFT  Tank: LOFT (similar)
Earrings: Mata Traders  Skirt: thrifted (similar)  Sandals: Isola

Bright Skirt, Blue Shirt

But, not just any bright skirt.  My most favorite bright skirt:

I bought this vintage skirt at a Goodwill in Santa Fe, and I've loved it ever since.  Between the color and the pleats, it's basically the best ever.  I also love that my dear blogger friend, Jen, has a similar skirt!

And, this isn't just any blue shirt either.  It's one of my favorite blue shirts:

I love tropical prints.  Even a subtle tropical print like this one.

Because I remedied the subtlety of the shirt by pairing it with a very bright skirt:

Shirt: Gap (similar)  Skirt: vintage, thrifted (similar)
Shoes: Rieker, thrifted (similar)  Earrings: Kate Spade NY

As always, you're welcome.

Spring Jeans and a Fox Locket

My wishlist for spring is pretty short.  In part because I don't really need anything and in part because a large portion of my budget is going to a new handbag.  I did, however, want some new skinnies in a spring color and found these from Old Navy:

Sweater: Old Navy (similar)  Jeans: Old Navy Rockstar
Shoes: Nine West (similar)

As you can see, they're a sort of robin's egg blue and they're exactly what I wanted.  And, as you can also see, they go with all the other spring colors!

I originally only thought to pair them with the citron sweater because I wanted to wear that sweater with my new fox locket:

Isn't it the cutest?!  My sister sent it to me with pictures of my sweet, big-headed nephews inside, and I love it!

So, where do the shoes come in?  Well, I just figured that the only thing to do for that much color is to add more color.  I think Coco Chanel or someone said something like that.

Spring-Like

We had a few days of quite spring-like weather here in PA the past couple of days so I took the opportunity to wear a couple of new pieces I received from Long Tall Sally:

Both the jacket and the shoes are some of Long Tall Sally's latest spring offerings and they were perfect for the warmer weather.

Although I am a size 14, LTS runs a little large, so I ordered the jacket in size 12 and it fits perfectly.  I definitely recommend going down a size.  I ordered my usual size, 10 and I'd say they fit true-to-size.  They are also pretty comfortable and I recommend them unless you're going to be doing a lot of walking; they don't have any arch support.  I wore them for running errands but caution against wearing them for actual running.

The jacket is the Textured Biker Jacket in Flame and the texture really is wonderful:

And the shoes are the Iris Cut Out Printed Ballerina and I love that they're a strong, graphic print.  I've been looking for a pair of black and white printed shoes for quite some time now, so I was thrilled to get these.

I paired the jacket and the shoes with a striped shirt, skinny jeans and green stud earrings:

Shirt: Banana Republic (similar)  Jeans: Gap
Earrings: Kate Spade New York

Why green earrings?  Well, because sometimes the best colors are complimentary colors.  I didn't make that up either; that's Science, Folks.

Electric

Today's Style Challenge from Putting Me Together is to wear something bright.  This makes me happy for several reasons.  One, I love brights in the winter.  Two, like the first challenge, it was easy for me.  And, three, it gave me a little-needed excuse to wear my electric blue sweater:

Sweater & Skirt: thrifted  Tights: SPANX  Boots: Born Crown

Electric!

In fact, the only problem I had with this outfit was what to pair with the sweater.  As you can see, there's snow on the ground.  And even though it's not particularly cold, I'm a bit hesitant to wear skirts out here in case I'm caught in a freak snowstorm.  But, I took the chance and paired my sweater with a vintage checked skirt:

Okay, okay.  You caught me.  I chose this skirt not because I've suddenly become rational about freak snowstorms (I really haven't).  No, in truth, I chose it because it fits my curves really well.

I mean, look at how cute my booty looks!

But, that's enough about my bum.  The challenge was not "wear something heinie-enhancing," it was wear something bright.  Which I did.  It was this sweater:

And a heinie-enhancing skirt.

Flame On

I like to think of these flame-colored cords as my fall pants:

Because, as you can see, they are perfect for fall.

Can you wear flaming orange cords outside of fall?  Sure, I guess you could.  If for some reason you liked wearing fall pants in spring, you certainly could do that.

But, really, these are fall pants:

Top: LOFT   Pants: Target   Shoes: Old Navy

I like to pair my flame-colored fall pants with blue.  One, because there is very little I won't pair with blue.  And, two, because that color combination reminds me of the blue skies and orange leaves of fall.

Today I paired them with blue leopard; because blue leopard is awesome:

Especially with flame-colored cords:

Happy Monday, All!  Or, I should say Happy Visible Monday because I'm finally linking up with Patti!

Gracey
