A Whole Lotta Plum

Today's outfit features a whole lotta plum:

And a tiny bit of turquoise.



Oh, I could have scared up some plum earrings and gone head-to-toe plum, but, as we all know, when in doubt, I choose turquoise:

Trend to Try: Multi Stripe

One trend I'm super excited about this season is the Multi Stripe trend.  You can also call them Bold Stripes or Rainbow Stripes.  It is, of course, not a new trend:

But, it's a great trend, and I, for one, am super excited that it's coming back around.



I first noticed it with the Valentino 2015 Resort Collection, which brought us pieces like these:

Magic, each and every one.



Of course, Valentino isn't the only line to send brightly striped looks down the runway:

Balmain Spring RTW 2015                             Gucci Resort 2016                      Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2016

The Balmain, Gucci and Hilfiger looks were less candy-colored than Valentino, but still bold and bright.  You can do the multi-stripe trend in pastels or even more muted tones, but I personally prefer them in the brights shown in the 60s, 70s, and today.



Like the trend but not sure how to wear it?  Here's some inspiration:

I paired my brightly striped cardigan from Lands' End with a bright skirt because I figure that two brights make a right.  But, you don't have to go bright; in the look from Who What Wear, a striped vintage skirt is paired with a leather jacket.

Tiffany, from The Werk! Place, mixes bold and neutral stripes in her outfit, finishing it off with neutral accessories.  And Blair Eadie, from Atlantic Pacific, pairs her rainbow striped Gucci sweater with skinny, dark jeans, letting the sweater and her perfect red lip do all the heavy lifting.

Brightly Striped

The weather has been pretty gloomy here in Pittsburgh this week so I thought I'd wear something bright:

Is it a lot of look?  Yes.  Do I look like I should be riding on a rainbow-maned horse named Starlight with my Sprite best friend, Twink?  Probably also yes.  But, I love this look.


Nothing combats the gloom and doom of stormy spring days like a brightly striped sweater and an even more brightly colored skirt:

Trust me folks, there's nothing better.  Sure, you may look like you abandoned the Color Kids and got a grown up job in an office.  But, it'll still make you smile.

Five for Friday: Buttercup

I've decided to stop being lazy and bring back my Five for Friday series.


Today is all about the Pantone Spring 2016 color, Buttercup.  I posted an outfit featuring Buttercup earlier today.  And now I'm sharing some of my favorite Buttercup finds for this spring.

1. LOFT Multi-Stone Earrings - I have these earrings; and have worn them several times since purchasing them.  They are the perfect injection of little yellow into a look.  Love.

2. Vince Camuto Crossbody Bag - A lot of people don't like wearing yellow.  If you're one of those people, but are still looking for a way to add a little sunshine to your spring looks, this bag is perfect.  Soft leather and the perfect size in an easy-to-wear shade.

3. Corso Como "Gladis" Espadrille Wedge - I strongly recommend a yellow sandal for summer.  There are more versatile than you might think and espadrilles are very on trend this season.

4. LOFT Pants - If you like your yellow bright, these are the pants for you!  I personally think they're super fun and a great addition to a spring wardrobe.

5. Halogen Tweed Skirt - I adore this tweedy yellow skirt like nobody's business.  The only thing stopping me from purchasing it is that I don't need another skirt.  But, it's so perfect, maybe I do...

Orange You Glad It's Spring?

I am.  Or, rather, I would be if it hadn't snowed yesterday and dropped below freezing last night.  I mean, it was so cold this morning that I was forced back into tights:

But, I can't complain too much because I paired those tights with my new orange skirt:

And a polka dot blouse:

Because orange and polka dots are two great things that look great together.

It's Not Terrible

I really like this outfit because it combines two of my favorite things; graphic prints and bright colors:

Or, rather a graphic print and a bright color, but you get the point.



Also, is there any color that looks better than red with black and white?

I think not.  I mean, all brights work with black and white.  And cobalt is pretty great with graphic prints, but even I, a life-long lover of cobalt, think that red is just the perfect compliment to graphic black and white.

Winter White, Winter Bright

Today I'm wearing winter white with winter bright(s):

Specifically, I paired a winter white sweater with a winter bright skirt, scarf and tights:

Because they pair well and they rhyme.  Win-win.

Back in eShakti Again

Bright Tights

Sometimes I like to wear super-bright tights:

Even if only a sliver of the tights is visible, like in this outfit, it makes me happy to know that I have neon legs.



Because, with hot pink tights like these, a sliver is all you really need:

Just enough to make you happy.



I mean, sure, they also serve the purpose of picking up some pink in my sweater and therefore tying everything together:

Shocking Pink

This dress is one my favorites to wear during the winter:

The color is just the best for gray days.  And when paired with gray accessories:

Also, even though it only has three-quarter sleeves, it's very warm and made even warmer with the addition of a wool scarf:

But, mostly, I just love the shocking pink color:

Printed Dress + Bright Cardigan

I have a feeling that this particular outfit formula of printed dress + bright cardigan will be one I wear quite a bit this fall:

It's easy, it's colorful and the layers are good for those fall days that start off chilly and then get warmer.



And this particular print is a delight:

It's practically upholstery, which is nice because if I outgrow it, I can make it into an awesome throw pillow.  Reduce, reuse, recycle, right?



In the meantime, however, I'll just settle for wearing it as an adorable dress:

All Bright, All Right
