Wrinkles and Rhinestones

Linen is great for summer; so light... so airy... so wrinkly:

Seriously.  Those wrinkles are just from bending over to buckle my sandals.  That's ridiculous.


Still, it is a nice cool fabric and it looks good with rhinestones:

And, people expect linen to be wrinkled, so they're probably not talking about you behind your back.  Or at least not to say anything other than "man, wrinkles and rhinestones are a fly combination":

Inspired By: Half-Naked Models and Hobbits

The majority of my outfit is inspired by this Guess ad:

As you can see, my brooding, half-naked male model failed to show and I went ahead and buttoned my shirt, but otherwise I think we can agree that I pretty much nailed this recreation.

For my version of the look, I paired a sheer, pleated skirt (Pleione via Nordstrom Rack) with a silk houndstooth blouse (Jones New York, thrifted).  I added my replacement black booties (Luxury Rebel “Yuma” via Piperlime), a vintage Monet bracelet (via Red Fox Vintage) and what I refer to as my “Eye of Sauron” belt (vintage, thrifted).

The name for the belt is inspired by this image from Lord of the Rings:

And yes, it does make my pelvis all-seeing; thank you for asking.

Monocreamatic

Today was the Everybody, Everywear Monochromatic Challenge.  I decided to go with monochromatic cream (or monocreamatic, if you will):

For this look, I paired a pleated skirt (vintage, thrifted) with a silk tank (thrifted).  I added a suede belt, worn backwards (thrifted) and nude platform sandals (Banana Republic) worn the correct way.  I also added a bib necklace (c/o Maurice’s) and a few bangles (Nordstrom and thrifted). 

I know it’s not entirely monochromatic, given the belt and the shoes, but I don’t know that I have it in me to go head-to-toe cream.  Or any other color for that matter.  Maybe black; I’ll have to try that come this fall.
