Tall retailer extraordinaire Long Tall Sally, turned 40 this week. And they also released their fall line. Now, I am very excited that LTS is 40, but I'm even more excited about this line. So much so, that I'm wearing almost head-to-toe LTS for today's adventures:
The blouse, the skirt and the boots are all courtesy of Long Tall Sally, and are all from the new collection.
When offered the opportunity to review some pieces, I chose these three because I am unable to resist the color of the boots or a multi-colored stripe and I love denim skirts for fall and winter. This skirt is the perfect length for both short boots like these and for tall boots and tights when cooler weather arrives. That being said, I think the boots are my favorite piece; I really do love the color and they are very, very comfortable. (They are also available up to size 15!)
The only pieces of this outfit that aren't LTS are my woven belt (it's thrifted) and my earrings:
These are vintage; found, cleaned and restrung by my mom. They're plastic so they're lightweight, but still dramatic.
And, I think, a fun addition to today's look:
To see how other tall bloggers styled pieces from the new collection, visit the LTS Blog. And if you're inspired to purchase some new pieces yourself, many pieces are 40% until tomorrow, including my lovely boots.
Happy Saturday, All! And Happy Birthday, LTS!

Blue Green
I was trying to figure out if these pants are blue or green:
And then I realized that the answer is "yes."
So, I paired them with some blue and some green and some blue green:
Because what else would you wear with yes-colored pants?
Happy Wednesday, All!

Color Blocked
As much as I like this thrifted, color blocked sweater, I never wear it. Because it is really, really hard for me to style with anything but jeans. But, I think I may have finally figured it out with today's outfit:
Now, my jean wearing has been severely curtailed at my new job (boo!) but this sweater is wool and very, very warm so I feel like winter in Pittsburgh is it's time to shine. So, eventually, I decided to try it with a suede skirt.
And I really do think it works:
But, just in case it didn't, you can see that I added some fun, patterned tights to distract people from my sweater.
And I think that's the real takeaway here, Folks; when in doubt about your top, distract people with your legs.
Happy Friday, All!

Non-Boring Neutrals
As you probably noticed from my last post, and the one before, I usually like to brighten up my winters with color. I also like to brighten up my springs, summers and autumns with color. But in winter, especially, neutrals can feel kind of boring to me.
But, not these neutrals:
The different textures (suede! leather! fuzzy-wuzzy!) keep the outfit interesting:
And, frankly, the different textures also help keep it warm.
I mean, say what you will about Pennsylvania winters (no, really, I say bad things about it all the time, it's okay, everyone does), but they do provide opportunities to wear fun things like suede and layered sweaters:
Things like non-boring neutrals.

Pleated and Printed
This dress has everything a gal could ask for in a vintage dress. It's both pleated and printed:
What, exactly, it's printed with, I can't say. It's some sort of random, 60s print:
But, that random 60s print works well with modern neutrals.
Modern neutrals like this faux leather moto and the suede boots:

Late Spring Layers
On Monday, it was 91 degrees here in PA. In two days, it dropped 30 degrees and we're now in the high 50s, low 60s. I don't mind though. One, the heat is NOT a dry heat; in fact, it is a sweaty, gross heat that makes me sad. And two, it gives me the opportunity to pull out some late spring layers:
The layer I'm most excited about is this cream moto:
I got a great deal on it because I bought it super late in the season, but that also meant that it was basically too late in the season to wear it much. So, when the temperatures dropped, I knew I had to take the opportunity to break it out.
Happily, it worked out quite nicely with my not-quite-a-maxi dress and my suede boots:
Unhappily, I think it'll be the last time it makes it onto the blog for awhile; I believe we're supposed to be back up to 80 by this weekend. Hot, sweaty 80. Yuck.
Happy Thursday, All!

Coral Moto
This coral moto is such a great piece:
It makes every outfit better. And brighter. And is beyond perfect for spring.
The texture is great too:
Textured pieces add another layer of interest to an outfit without actually having to add another layer.
But, the best part is the color:
It's gorgeous and it goes well with colorful shoes.
Happy Monday, All!

Style Imitating Art: Spring
I finally got my act together and was able to participate in Style Imitating Art. This week's inspiration, as chosen by Jess, of Animated Cardigan, was this stained glass window:
It is, appropriately, titled "Spring" and was designed by John La Farge. Gorgeous, right?
As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed something blue and floral. Luckily for me, I have something blue and floral:
I thought this print and color of this vintage dress was perfect for the challenge:
And, of course, it's not warm enough for a dress alone, so I added an olive jacket, some blue tights and ankle boots.
Are the blue tights perhaps a bridge too far? Short answer, no. Long answer, I figured that blue tights were better than having blue legs. From the cold. Because it's freezing.
Happy Tuesday, All!

Maybe Marsala
I think my scarf may be the Pantone 2015 Color of the Year, Marsala:
Maybe. I wasn't too keen on that color when they announced it, so I didn't pay too much attention to what color it actually is. But, there is a good chance it's the color of my scarf.
I wore the scarf with a peachy sweater and suede boots. I know, suede, in spring. And they've basically become my go-to shoe. Of course, that wouldn't have been the case in Oregon, but it rains a lot less here so I can wear suede boots with abandon. With abandon, I tell you!
And so I do:
And I do even though they're a funny, reddish cognac, which isn't the most spring-like color. But so far they've worked with my attempts at spring-like outfits. I especially like them with this silk scarf sent to me by my sister:
I figure the scarf helps tie in the boots and it's a pretty floral, which is always appropriate for spring:
Especially a pretty floral in what may be Marsala which makes it appropriate and on-trend. Maybe.

Spring Things
It's been pretty warm here lately, so I've been trying to wear some spring things:
But, it's been hard because although it's warmer, there is still actually quite a bit of snow on the ground. It feels weird running around with no coat and bare ankles when the yard is still covered in snow.
I mean, I wasn't cold in this outfit, but I felt like I should have been cold:
And my ankles didn't even notice the lack of wool socks and snow boots:
I'm still not sure if this is spring here in PA, but I do know that it's finally warm enough to wear some spring things.
Happy Friday, All!
