Maximum Swanning

It was very, very cold here today.  But, rather than complain, I decided to layer:

Specifically, I layered my LTS cape over a striped shirt and belted the whole thing with a studded belt:

All paired with a vintage skirt, tights and riding boots:

Cape: c/o Long Tall Sally  (similar)  Shirt: Gap
Belt: old Michael Michael Kors  Skirt: thrifted vintage (similar)  Boots: gifted (similar)

So, no, no complaining from me today.  Just maximum swanning.

Happy Wednesday, All!

Inspiration Monday on a Tuesday

So, this is my look for Two Birds' Inspiration Monday:

Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but a girl does what she can.  I also had to do what I could with this inspiration photo because, as it turns out, I had basically none of the necessary pieces!

Here is the inspiration photo for my look:

It's Olivia Palermo.  As I've mentioned before, I'm not sure what she's famous for, but she seems stylish and has nice, shiny hair, so that's something.  I also really like her outfit.  Unfortunately, I had nothing in my closet that even remotely resembles what Ms. Palermo is wearing.

See?  Not even close.  But, I tried.  Instead of a tweedy, pink topper, I wore tweedy green (thrifted).  And instead of fun, colorful heels, I wore fun, colorful flats (Coconuts).  And my jeans (Old Navy) are only slightly distressed as opposed to full-on I Don't Give A F*ck distressed.  But, I think we can all agree that I nailed the white shirt.  Yay, me!

Happy Tuesday, All!

Professor of Equestrian Sciences

So, this outfit sort of looks like something a Professor of Equestrian Sciences might wear for the last class before winter break:

In other words, it doesn't look like spring.  But, in my defense, it doesn't feel like spring in Oregon right now either.  It is cold, it is wet and layers are definitely necessary.  Are Christmas-y layers necessary?  Probably not, but they're happening anyway, aren't they?

The answer is yes, yes they are.

Actually, I think it's just the blouse that throws this look into Christmas territory.  At least that's what my sister says; she swears it's covered in snowflakes.  But, it's not; they're little flowers:

Not the most spring-like flowers, but flowers all the same.  So, at least I'm a seasonally appropriate Professor of Equestrian Sciences.

And, I'm also a participant in The Citizen Rosebud's #SECONDHANDFIRST Link Party.  The entire top half of my outfit, the professorial half, if you will, is thrifted.  The jacket, the blouse, the lady-tie and the lion pin, are all from secondhand shops.

To see what thrifted goodies others are wearing, please do stop by Citizen Rosebud.  And if you're a second-hand shopper, make sure you link up too!

And have a happy Friday, All!

It's Weird, But I Like It

It being this tweed dress-tunic thing that I'm wearing:

I found it at The Sticky Thrift Store (aka Better Bargains, in Northeast Portland) and was immediately enamored.  I like its stiff, sort of paper-doll shape.  And I like how basic it is; no bells and whistles, just pockets:

And I love its overly detailed tag:

I'm just not convinced that I know how to style it yet.  I definitely needed the long-sleeve tee underneath (Gap) because it's unlined and tweed is itchy as hell.  I also added some jeggings (Bandolino via Macys), tall boots (Enzo Angolini via Nordstrom) and, my favorite addition, a butterfly pin from my friend, Ana:

I think that it probably could have also used a belt, but it turns out that tweed, in addition to being itchy, is hard to belt.  Or, at least this piece is.  But, belt-needy and weird as it is, I really do like it.

Happy Saturday, Everyone!  Have a fabulous weekend!
