Good News and Bad News

Hello All!

I have good news and bad news to share with you all today.  Let's do the good news first, shall we?

Good News #1

One of my favorite online retailers, eShakti, is having a site-wide 40% off sale this weekend:

So, if you've been thinking about an eShakti purchase, this may be the perfect weekend to pull the trigger.

Good News #2

My cold is finally all better. I can breathe through my nose and everything.

The Bad News

I think my sinuses finally cleared because I spent much of yesterday morning in tears in the ER. I was in the ER because I had my first (and hopefully last) bike accident in nearly three years of commuting.  I swerved to avoid a car, hit a curb and went down hard.  I hit my chin and my left arm doesn't work so well (really at all) but nothing is broken, so I'm pretty thrilled about that.

I'm not sure when I'll be back to work or blogging, given my current one-armed state, but I hope by Monday or Tuesday.  I'll try to update Twitter regularly though.

Happy Saturday, All!

  7. Yikes! I'm so sorry you've had an accident. I'm glad you're basically OK, but this just plain sucks all the same. Hope you're mended very soon.

  9. First, I'm so sorry to hear about your bike accident! I hope you're feeling better soon. Second, thanks for alerting me to the eShakti sale. I've been wanted to try their jackets for a while!

  10. Bad news: totally just bought a dress from eShakti before this. Paaaants

Even badder news: the ER. I had a similar situation--not a bike crash, but a crash off a horse--and I spent much of an afternoon in the ER in tears and unable to move my right arm. I separated my shoulder, and it sucked! I hope that isn't what happened to you but if it is, take solace knowing I was back on a horse after three weeks. I'm glad to hear nothing's broken and I hope you're back in top shape ASAP!

  11. Oh geez! So glad it wasn't worse, and hopefully your arm will be back to normal after the swelling goes down in a couple of days!

  12. OH NO! It's apparently a bad time of year for bikers and accidents since I had mine a few weeks ago! So glad you are okay!!! Yours sounds a lot more intense, hitting you chin, OUCH, mine was just the palm of my hands and knees! I guess we are both lucky nothing is broke though, and am sending good thoughts your way girl! I'm so sorry!

  13. oh no....that sucks. And from personal experience, I know that when something happens to one arm, you suddenly realize just how much you use it for the most random things. Feel better soon, I'm glad you're mostly ok.

  20. Oh no, I hope you are repaired and feeling better soon. That's horrible. I think you deserve lots of comfort food and looking after. Get well soon. x

  21. Oh, Gracey......just take your time to rest and heal. How frightening. I'm so glad you were not more seriously hurt!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh no, poor thing! Let yourself heal; bruises and bangs always feel worse 2nd and 3rd day than they do on the first. Good luck!

  23. Sounds scary, but I'm glad you're OK. Take it easy and rest up. :)

  24. Great to hear that nothing's broken, and that you didn't hurt your head! In a couple of days you'll hopefully be up on your bicycle again, now enjoying the fresh air!

Living in one of the larger bicycling nations in this world I just have to give this piece of advice:

Out of personal experience and supported by statistics, wearing a helmet is vital in accidents, so I do hope you're wearing one!

    Wishing you all the best!

  25. Oh boooo. I hope you recover quickly. I also had my first biking accident this year - must be something in the air!

  26. Oh no! Feel better soon :) Gosh - how scary. I fell trying to water a plant and hit my wrist and got really scared I had damaged it because it was a little hard to move it. But I think I just bruised it. Oh man - I hope you get healed up quickly!

  27. Sweet girl, that is so scary! I'm praying for a speedy pain-free recovery for you! Chocolate and movies may help in that process I think. :)

  28. Yikes, sorry about your bike accident! I'm glad to hear your cold is gone and you didn't break anything from the fall. I hope your arm is fully functional again soon.

That's exciting that you get to meet some more bloggers in your area next month! You have nothing to be nervous about. It'll be fun. I'm terrible at making conversation, but it helps that I knew something about these people already from reading their blogs. The hardest part, I think, was deciding what to wear!

  29. Oh no, that sounds awful! Hope you're not too scarred from the experience to give up biking. Feel better soon Gracey, the blog can wait.

  31. Oh no! I'm praying for a swift recovery for you my dear! This is why I'm scared to bike around our city, I'm so afraid of getting hurt. Glad nothing was broken though and I hope you're able to rest up a bit this coming week!

  32. My poor Gracey! I curse the punk that made you swerve. Stupid driver-person. Just focus on getting better!

  34. Oh no! I am glad that you are okay, and that you didn't get hit by the car at least. I hope you feel better soon!

  35. Gracey, I saw this post yesterday on the stoopid slow wifi during our travel, and couldn't comment that I'm so sorry to hear about your bike wreck, but so glad you are okay. Or at least okay enough to post. Hugz, and wondering if you're feeling worse after a day or so, because that's how strains, sprains, and bruises work, or better, and hoping better.

  36. So sorry to hear that! Heal well n quickly!

(and my Mom broke her leg/hip this weekend, so I guess it the weekend for crashes :( )

Two other things: I mentioned you on my blog today because I wore the purple shirt you gave me. Second, the Nordstrom Rack opened near me today: they have shoes for big girls!
