Autumnal

I’m convinced that this is the perfect autumnal outfit, in spite of the fact that it’s made up of brights:

(Exact Merona Cords, Similar Sweater, Similar Shoes)

And they are some BRIGHT brights too.  But, I like the flame-orange cords (Target) with the electric blue sweater (Nordstrom, thrifted).  It could even be argued that I toned the look down a bit with houndstooth shoes (Old Navy, thrifted) if, you know, you consider houndstooth to be toned down.  If you don’t, well, then, yeah…

Really though, even with the bright brights and not-exactly-neutral houndstooth, this outfit feels like fall to me.  I think I feel that way in part because it consists of cords and a sweater, which I think we can all agree is a classic fall outfit.  And, while I understand that these may not be classic fall colors, I think they’re fall-like in their own way.  For me, they evoke images of turning leaves, pumpkin patches and the blue fall sky before the rains come.

Of course, I could just be convinced this outfit feels like fall because today finally felt like fall.  It was actually quite chilly on the ride in and I may have to break out the mittens before the week is up.  So exciting!

Happy Tuesday, All!

  4. Gracey, wtf. You will see my outfit post for tomorrow and you are going to understand my wtf-ing. Hint: I am wearing basically a muted version of your outfit today.

Also, cords and a sweater are the ultimate autumnal fabric combination. So cozy!

  5. !!!! I usually hate orange and blue together (I live in a college town where those are the school colors and I see it far too often) but you pull it off so wonderfully. Also those are some pretty badass shoes.
    Great post :)

  8. Love this outfit. You are a ray of sunshine on a cool fall day! I reject the idea that certain colors should be reserved for certain seasons. I agree that a sweater and chords= fall:)

  9. Bright colorblocking is totally appropriate for fall! Especially when it include a cute knit sweater, and warm cords.
Love this outfit... the bright blue & orange go perfectly together.

  10. Orange is an all-season colour, but particularly autumn, because of turning leaves. I LOVE it paired with the bright blue, that's just such a brilliant colour combination. Also, you look very sleek in this, and yay! corduroy!

  11. I love everything about your outfit, and I especially love your orange and blue together! Alas, I live in Denver, and if I sport them together too often, I may be mistaken for a broncos fan, and I don't want that.

  12. LOVE!!!! Wow you work brights and you work em good! :) And I would consider houndstooth a neutral but then again I have been known to wear crazy patterns! I love wearing bright colours in fall/winter to chase away the cold weather blues!

  13. I think this is a perfect fall look. The cords are gorgeous, so is the color pairing. I love the pattern pop in the shoes. I highly doubt bright colors are disappearing any time soon. I hope they continue on through dreary winter.

  14. I am convinced, Gracey. You are absolutely right. Teal and orange will forever say, "IT'S FALL NOW!" even if the stupid weather here is bullish.

I am also in love with those cords and can't wait to see them in future posts. They are a WOWWOWOW :)

  17. Killing it as usual, Gracey. I have major textural issues with corduroy (touching it makes my skin crawl) but I'm willing to give these a pass when the day for the Great Global Corduroy Purge is at hand. You know, 'cuz of the orange and all.

  19. OH! These colors! They are blindingly bright, but in such a gooood way. They almost look yummy, those colors are so bright and fantastic. I would have never thought to do this pairing, but this coral/orange and the blue just make your skin glow. And the little bit of the print with those shoes just makes the look that more fabulous.

  25. I think sweaters, orange, cords and houndstooth are all fall wardrobe essentials. Who cares if they're a little brighter than usual? Sometimes people get too gray in the fall/winter. It's good to keep some brightness in your life :)
