Cobalt + Peach

InStyle magazine assured me in their latest issue that cobalt and peach are a good idea for spring.  So, I decided to give it a try:

And, I gotta tell you, if I hadn't read that article, I don't think I ever would have paired these two colors together.

Even after doing it, I'm still a little skeptical:

It's not that I think it looks bad, but my eyes are having a hard time adjusting to these two colors together.

I mean, cobalt and tangerine, sure.  But, cobalt and peach?  I'm just not sure that I'm one hundred percent sold on the idea:

Sweater: sold out Anthropologie (sort of similar here and here)
Pants: Gap (similar)  Shoes: v. old Corso Como (similar)

But, I'm glad I gave it a shot.  It's good to wander outside of your comfort zone sometimes.

All The Volume

I try to avoid tight-fitting clothes during the summer, especially here in Pittsburgh where the humidity is so high we have thunderstorms nearly every afternoon.  Instead, I reach for loose-fitting pieces like these cropped pants:

And instead of offsetting their volume with a fitted top, I chose to wear a loose-fitting top as well:

Pants: LOFT  Top: Anthro  Sandals: Kork-Ease

Because, sometimes, I like to wear all the volume.

Printed Shoes and Neon Earrings

My favorite thing about printed shoes is that they make interesting easy.  Without the shoes, this outfit is just a brown shirt and blue pants:

Fine, but nothing to blog about.

But, add some printed shoes:

And now, now one can blog about how much they love a printed shoe and the miracles a printed shoe performs on a basic outfit.

Okay, okay, maybe these shoes aren't miraculous, but they are pretty darned cute and a far sight better than a plain shoe would be.

Top: Anthropologie (save) (splurge)   Pants: LOFT
Shoes: Sam Edelman (similar)  Necklace: Anthro (similar)  Earrings: Kate Spade NY

But, just in case you're somehow still bored, I also added some neon earrings:

Because it is scientifically impossible to be bored by an outfit that contains both printed shoes and neon studs.  I didn't make that up.  That's science, Folks.

Science.*

*That is not science and I did, in fact, make it up.

Flared and Frilled

There are finally (finally!) daffodils blooming here in Western PA and they inspired me to wear a little yellow of my own:

This top is funny because I love the stripes, the color and the cut, but I'm not sure it's all that flattering on me:

I'm pretty sure it gives my shoulders a bit of a "frilled linebacker" look, but I just can't bring myself to get rid of it.  Probably because it is so cheery and comfortable.

And because it looks darned good with my fox locket:

The jeans are also not the most flattering, but ditto on the comfort factor.  And it's nice to break out of that skinny mold sometimes.  Not me.  The jeans.  I haven't been in the "skinny" mold for ages!

Top: old Anthropologie, can't find similar, but I like this option and this one
Jeans: Gap (similar)  Sandals: Banana Republic (similar)

Bottom line, pairing flared with frilled may not be the most flattering, but it's cheery and comfortable and sometimes that's all a girl wants in an outfit.
