Apricot Sherbet

I am not actually sure what color this sweater is.  Here it's a sort of orange sherbet hue:

But, here it's a bit darker and more apricot, I think:

Sweater: thrifted vintage (similar)
Skirt: thrifted vintage  Shoes: Corso Como (similar)

So it's... apricot sherbet?  Is that a thing?  It should be, it sounds delicious.

And it looks good with houndstooth.

A Raging Case of The I-Have-Nothing-To-Wears

Here is the dilemma, Reader Friends.  It is gorgeous and sunny here in Oregon (at the moment) but it is not warm.  So, I'm trying to find clothes that fit with the sunnier weather without freezing to death.  Turns out that I don't have a lot of options that meet that criteria, so I ended up in my bird button-down layered under a short-sleeve sweater:

Yes, I did wear almost this exact same outfit at almost this exact same time last year.  But, only almost.  I did actually change it up a little bit.  For example, this time, instead of wearing neon studs, I'm wearing shell feathers:

I also changed up the bottom of my look, this time going with ankle zip skinnies and flats instead of flares and wedges:

I know, I know, it's not much of a difference, but I'm not kidding when I say I have a limited amount of clothing that is both spring-like and warm.  In fact, I think this is probably my toughest transitional period.  I'm tired of my drab winter clothes, but it's still too cold to pull out proper spring clothes, resulting in a raging case of The I-Have-Nothing-To-Wears.

Birdie Awesomeness

As an Oregonian, I am, of course, unable to resist anything that has a bird on it.  So this shirt?

Yeah, this shirt was destined to be mine.  Not only does it have birds on it, but it fits my long arms even though it’s not offered in “Tall”.  Those two qualities alone are reason enough to love this shirt.  But then you add the fact that it looks adorable layered under my apricot sweater and it is birdie awesomeness at its best.

In addition to the awesome bird button-down (Caslon via Nordstrom) and the apricot sweater (Worthington via Goodwill), I also wore flared jeans (Gap), camel wedges (Corso Como via Piperlime) and neon studs (Kate Spade NY via Nordstrom).  

 

Friend Ferge thinks the neon studs don’t make sense with this look.  She is wrong.

Easter Egg Dressing

I’m dressed like an Easter egg today.  Just in case you all didn’t get enough of it on Sunday:

Actually, I didn’t intentionally dress like an Easter egg, but EBEW and Target conspired against me.   I knew I was going to wear this blazer for the Everybody, Everywear Pastels Challenge, but I didn’t know what I was going to wear with it.  Enter Target.  What started out as a harmless trip to buy Q-tips and a birthday present resulted in my seeing this dress, squealing with joy, pondering the hi-lo hem, deciding to get it anyway and wearing it with this blazer.

So, you see, it’s not my fault I’m dressed like an Easter egg.  I just love this dress (Target) and this blazer (vintage, thrifted) and I happen to love them together, so I wore them together.  I also wore platform sandals (MRKT via DSW), a thin belt (Gap) and a tassel pendant (Old Navy).

Allergic to eggs?  You can (probably) see less egg-like pastel-wearing at Everybody, Everywear.  Probably.  I mean, it’s doubtful anyone else dressed like an egg, but you should go check it out just to be sure.

Tried and True

As much as I enjoyed dressing outside my comfort zone the past couple of days, it does take more effort for me.  And, as work has taken a turn for the crazier, I need to save all my effort to keep from running from my cubicle screaming.  So, I’m back to the tried and true:

A-line skirt?  Check.  Patterned something or other?  Check.  Layers?  Check.  Color?  Check.  Boots?  Check.  For today, the A-line skirt is grey (Banana Republic), the pattern and color comes from the silk blouse (Banana Republic) layered under the apricot sweater (thrifted) and the boots are, of course, Born Crown “Sosie” (Nordstrom).  I added olive tights (Hue) because it made sense in my head, a watch and a couple bracelets because the blouse is three-quarter sleeves and some gold earrings (a Crafty Wonderland purchase).

Nothing too terribly exciting, but it works.  And it allows me to concentrate on work.  And the effort I saved in deciding on an outfit can now be expended to keep from curling into a ball under my desk and sobbing.
