Just a (Lazy) Girl in a Dress

There is definitely something to be said for simplicity.  Unfortunately, I’m not the blogger to say it.  Not usually, at least.  But, today’s outfit is actually pretty simple:

Today, I’m just a girl in a dress.  This particular dress is vintage Karin Stevens (thrifted) and is one of my favorites.  I usually wear it with color but decided to keep it simple today with a brown belt (thrifted), mini-wedges (Jessica Simpson via Nordstrom) and an acorn necklace (Last Thursday vendor).  And I liked it.

I think it worked because of the dress.  I love the fit and the cut and print are interesting enough that it doesn’t need a lot of bells and whistles.  Given my inability/refusal to accessorize regularly, I should probably fill my closet with dresses of this sort.  Clothing that is supposed to be a “blank canvas” is too much pressure for my non-accessorizing self.

Oh, my goodness, I think I just had an epiphany.  That’s why I like prints so much; because they allow me to be lazy!  Thank goodness for prints – I probably couldn’t get dressed without them.

What about you, Reader Friends?  Are you a print-lover or do you prefer a blank canvas?

Happy Tuesday, All!

  2. I would have been even plainer and gone without anything on my arms, honestly. I don't know what it is but I can't do belt/necklace/bracelet. One or two, sure, but not all three, haha.

  3. I love this dress; it's perfect in its simplicity as are you.

You know I kinda like a backdrop for a good accessory. Plus, I loves the prints, but they don't love my scrawny shorty self back :P

  4. LOL! I love print dresses, too, and for the same reason! In fact, my last post was about my polka dot dress!

  5. Great dresses can do an an outfit's heavy lifting all on their own! I love that about them too. Simplicity can be so elegant, as you are here.

  6. I tend to rely on solid colors most of the time, but I think you're right that a good print creates interest all on its own.

  7. Both, I'm a sucker for accessories but I also love prints so you could say I like to add funky jewellery to an already busy outfit! Love the simple pattern of this dress and the neutral accessories, beauty!

  8. Gracey this dress looks tailored. What a beautiful fit and length. I am totally lazy about accessories. I may have to change that. I have a ton of a extras to work with but I choose to take the easy way out. Love this dress and your smile of course.

  9. I do love your dress here! It's verrrry flattering and shapely.
If I go for a print it's usually something ethnic looking. But I usually prefer a blank canvas because I have a tendency to get tired of the patterns. This dress would look awesome with bright red over the top too. ;)

  11. Haha, I think I'm a bit of both, I like simple, clean looks and I love prints! (Can't say no to a great print.) I think you do the simple loo very well, the brown on his belt really works well with the dark blue of the dress and lets the dress stand on it's own. One thing I love about your style is your ability to rock a print/floral dress and it make it look so darn easy going! (Well, that and you're crazy funny. I always end up laughing over your posts.)

  12. That dress was made for you, seriously - it fits you beautifully, and what a lovely little print. I like the acorn necklace, too. :)
I LOVE prints, especially big crazy ones, but I secretly yearn to dress with minimal elegance. One of these days ... :)

  14. I think I'm both. But I'm with you on the accessorizing front. I can usually only wear one extra thing at a time. Getting crazy when I pick out two! :)

  16. I think this is a darling dress! And it fits you like a glove. Prints are good for days like that, since they don't require many accessories. I think I go back and forth between prints and solid pieces. I guess it's good to have both in your closet!

  20. Aw man, Gracey, that color is so good on you. I still have an easier time mixing bold colors than bold prints, and lawdy knows I am fond of accessories, but I like to mix it up. I would love to come across a few dresses like this--simple and beautiful and easy (-looking, anyway) to wear!
