Like A Real Blogger

I feel almost like a real blogger today:

Layers?  Check.  Awkward skirt length coupled with awkward boot height?  Check.  Blogger bun (sans the sock)?  Check.

Of course, I should probably be wearing a statement necklace, probably the J. Crew Bubble, instead of my tasseled pendant.  And I probably should have tripled the guest list to my arm party.  And I’m missing a clutch to hold across my body.  Oh, and I should probably be staring pensively into the distance instead of smiling.

But, really, those small missteps aside, I think I came pretty darn close to real blogger-ness today.  The formula?  Loose gray midi dress (thrifted) + open-weave, button-back sweater (Old Navy) + cuffed, heeled boots (Gap).  And of course accessories; mine are a pendant necklace (Old Navy) + bracelets (Banana Republic, gifted and Macys) + earrings (Target).

Happy Friday, Everyone!

  1. Haha I love your analysis of a 'real blogger' but I completely agree! I've already been thinking I probably need to wear more accessories and weirder combinations of clothing to get in the game ;) Good work on the sans sock bun!

  2. You are a fabulous real blogger every day, Gracey! But like Heidi, I did LOL at your description : > You look wonderful, love this sweater over the dress.

  3. Gracey, you are hilarious and wonderful! My "real blogger" check-marks today are awkwardness, midi length, and a statement necklace, but I'm playing one on the internet anyhow. :)

  5. But you are a real blogger! Though this outfit definitely checks a few things off the style blogger bucket list. I'm loving the layers and that orange sweater is a beautiful color. You make me want autumn now!

  8. Oh Gracey I love your blogger observations... I'm guilty of quite a few of those!!! You look a picture of quirky cool in this outfit, the lengths work so well together and OMG I LOVE those boots!!!!!! Most of all I'm glad you didn't change one particular thing: your smile. Always your loveliest accessory!

    Have a great weekend sweetie

  13. You are one of my favorite bloggers because there is something more personable (funny) than "a real blogger!" And you look great without a bubble necklace and just a gathering on the arm vs a full blown arm party!

I love the boots. And I love the boots paired with that length of skirt. I might try it.

  14. Hahaha I love this. And I applaud you for being able to do a "blogger bun" sans sock! I haven't accomplished this yet so alas there's still a sock in my bun. Haha. I love this post though, it made me laugh out loud :)

  15. Sorry just don't like the boots. Your knee or calf ones look much nicer.

    1. That's okay. I totally understand where you're coming from. This is such a specific look, it's definitely not for everyone. But, I'm glad I tried it anyway!

  16. haha if by real blogger... you mean wearing what everyone else does! I love that your style is different from the typical outfit bloggers I see. They've all sort of blended together nowadays :/

  17. Hah, you forgot the giantic nerd glasses! :)

I have to say, you are one of the few people I like the awkward length skirt and booties on, it must be those legs of yours. ^_^ I see what the poster a little above was saying about the length of the boots and most of the time I would agree with that, but I think you have the personalitly and the legs to make this work for you. (And compete kudos to you for accepting a crit graciously and not just deleting it. This is something that has started to annoy me a bit about bloggers and you are just a class act. You are the kind of lady that
I would love to know in real life!)

  18. Absolutely love the look! Those boots are pretty cool folded over like that.

Oh,and you forgot to tell us that your BF / hubs took your photos :)

  19. Oh now this bloggeriffic ensemble SPEAKS to me. I've been dying to try the cropped sweater over long/lean skirt look, but don't have the ingredients. YET. You're making me want to even more! And can I just say those boots are freakin' perfect? I can see how they could be described as an awkward length, but them plus your long gams and the leanness of the silhouette... just parfait!

By the way, do you think I qualify for the "tall and fabulous" category? I'm 5'8"! Pretty tall. Okay, but less tall. I understand. I'll be weeping in the corner.

  20. My first thought upon scrolling down and seeing those boots was "Oh, SNAP!" Man, those are wicked cool.

I should take a page from your book and glue a sock bun to the back of my head. Stylish, right?

  21. "I probably should have tripled the guest list to my arm party."

    This made me laugh =)

Thanks for having such an awesome style blog Gracey, I love reading your words.
