Jenna Lyons Made Me Do It

My friends hated this outfit:

Kathy said there was just a whole lot going on.

Ferge said she was fine with it until she got to the shoes and then she didn't get it.

Ferge also said she just wanted to send me home to change.  I responded with this:

Because, here's the thing.  I know this outfit is kind of crazy.  Kathy isn't wrong; there is a whole lot going on.  But, for me?  This works.

I love the combination of the blouse (vintage, thrifted) with the pants (vintage, thrifted) and Jenna Lyons says leopard is a neutral so the shoes (Nine West) totally make sense with this.  I mean, who am I to call Jenna Lyons a liar?  Nobody, that's who.  So if anyone asks, I'll just say Jenna Lyons made me do it.

Happy Wednesday, All!

  1. Ultimately, the only person you have to please is yourself. Heaven knows many (if not most) of my outfits are frowned upon by others. I can see appeal in this ensemble.

  2. gorgeous, elegant outfit!
very european - maybe that´s why i love it. (with a midi length pencil skirt instead of pants i would love it more - i´m a skirt person - sorry)

pattern mixing is a kind of art - not all people can understand art :-)

  3. I give you two thumbs up too. I like the pattern mix (it's really not "too much" to my eye) and the cool shoes. Disclosure: I adore Jenna's looks too.

  4. No clue who Jenna Lyons is - Quelle horreur! I know - but I agree with Patti. Two thumbs way up from me too. Then again, we all know how quirky and flamboyant I am so perhaps I'm not the best barometer. ;p Regardless, you totally rock this ensemble; i especially love the sass in the third pic.

  5. Really? I love it! I get this all the time too though. I chalk it up to a success! Hooray for mixed prints! One of my bosses got on me for wearing pink and orange one day. Some people just don't get it . . .

  6. Okay Gracie, this is wicked!! What a great thrift find! And leopard, my weakness. Keep the shirt and the pants love them on you, forgot what the friends say, if you feel good that is all that matters

  8. Leopard is a *neutral*? I never heard that one before. :D

I'm with everyone else on this one: rock what you like! Your cheerful attitude and creative play with pattern mixing is one of the reasons I like your blog so much.

  9. Awesome. I love this outfit. I love that you love this outfit and some other people don't. That's the beauty of personal choice. And freedom and happiness. Sometimes I'll mix stuff up just because I can and if I irk a few people, at least I know they're alive.

  10. Sometimes mixed prints just work. I didn't even notice the shoes were leopard until you pointed them out, so I guess leopard really is a neutral.

  11. I couldn't agree more with you. I find myself often wearing the wildest combinations that perfectly make sense to me. Getting dressed everyday would have been boring if it wasn't for these crazy combos! Greatoutfit! PS I have a similar shirt!
