Printed and Vested

Eventually I'll stop wearing these olive sandals with everything:

But, not today, folks.  Not today.

Nope.  Today I'm wearing them with my new printed pants and a vest:

In my defense, they just seem to go with everything I'm wearing this summer.

I mean, just look how well they go with these pants:

Hmm.  Or maybe it's these pants that go with everything.  They're perfect with olive sandals and a navy vest:

Or is it the vest that goes with everything?

You know what?  I've decided that everything goes with everything else and that's why this outfit works:

Vest: Topshop via Nordstrom (more colors)  Pants: LOFT
Necklace: Modcloth (similar)  Sandals: FRYE (similar, vegan)

Yep, that's the key.  Everything goes with everything.

Pom Wonderful

As I mentioned before I, for some reason, have a favorite trim.  And for all the reasons, it's pom pom trim:

I like it so much, I like to wear it all at once:

All the pom poms.  All of 'em.

Because pom poms are...

Peplum: eShakti (similar) (more coverage)  Scarf: gifted (similar)
Pants: Old Navy (similar)  Flats: Nine West (similar)

That's right, pom wonderful.

Happy Friday, All!

Why Not Try: Printed Pants

Like colored pants (or pants of color, if you prefer), printed pants can be a bit daunting, especially if you have bossy thighs.  For example, I’ve always liked the look, but my thighs were against it; they kept threatening to secede if I put them in a print.  But, finally, last summer we reached an agreement (The Printed Pants Accord of 2012?  Perhaps you’ve heard of it?  No?  Well, it’s totally a thing) and I started wearing printed pants.  And even my thighs had to admit they’re kind of fun.

Happily, it looks like printed pants are going to continue to be on-trend for 2013 so I’m here to encourage you to try printed pants as well.  I think you’ll find that they’re easier to wear (even with mutinous thighs) than you thought.

And, they’re pretty versatile.  They can be worn loose or tight.  They can be worn long or cropped.  You can choose a bold print or a more subdued print.  And they can be worn with neutrals, brights and, of course, other prints.

Here are some ways I’ve worn my printed pants:

Left: Tiny polka dots with paisley & leopard.          Right: Dark animal print with printed shirt.

Left: Vintage, checked pants with butterfly tunic.          Right: Floral pastel Ralph Lauren & gray.

And here are some of my favorite looks from Pinterest:

Left: This Time Tomorrow via Pinterest.           Right: Seersucker and Saddles via Pinterest

Left: Kayley Hyde via Pinterest               Right: Fashionablee Me via Pinterest

Love printed pants, but not sure where to find them?  Great news; they’re practically everywhere!  Because they are on-trend, many retailers are offering printed pant options, including in Tall and Plus sizes.  And, they’re also pretty easy to thrift; about half of my pairs are thrifted.

If thrifting isn’t your thing, here are some reasonably priced options that I’m currently loving:

Wit & Wisdom Indigo Floral Skinny - via Nordstrom

The Diva Skinny Ankle Pant - via Old Navy

Slim Cropped Print Pant - via Gap

Jessica Simpson "Kiss Me" Print Zip Ankle Pant - via Nordstrom

As you can see, there are many, many ways to wear a printed pant.  And many, many printed pants to choose from.  So, what do you say?  Will you be giving printed pants a try?

Happy Monday, All!

A Passel of Printed Pants

One of the spring/summer trends I was most excited for this year was printed pants.  Apparently I was so excited that I ran out and purchased a whole passel of them.  Seriously, the Printed Plains in Nosh Opping is filled with printed pants.  Like this pair here:

I can’t help it; I really do love a printed pant.  I especially love the teal color and the irregular black dots on this pair.   I think the irregularity of the dots lend the pants a sort of leopard look from far away, and that’s always fun.  I paired today's printed pants (LOFT) with a tangerine top (Old Navy), espadrille wedges (Corso Como via Piperlime) and a few bracelets.

This is my fourth, and last, I think, pair of printed pants in The Giants Closet.  The other pairs include a pastel floral pair:

Vintage Ralph Lauren

A palm-printed pair:

Thrifted silk

And a checked pair:

Vintage men's golf pants

I don’t know why I have so many, but seeing them all in one place, I’m glad I found them.  They are all, except for this LOFT pair, thrifted, and this pair was less than $10.00, so it’s a trend that I was able to find for not a lot of money.  However, I still recognize that I have enough pairs of printed pants to last me so while I’m not getting rid of any, I also won’t be buying any more once my expedition is over.

How about you, Reader Friends?  Are you fans of the printed pants trend?

Happy Wednesday, All!

The Compromise

I love these pants but my thighs are a bit unsure about them:

Banana Republic "Natalie"

They feel like these pants (thrifted) draw unnecessary attention to them.  Let’s be clear though.  It’s not that my thighs are shy; no, they’re just in the middle of planning a revolt and don’t want any undue attention until they’re ready to storm the castle.  I’m all for revolution, so I compromised by wearing a bright orange shirt (Old Navy) with these pants.  As you can see, the shirt serves as a distraction so that no one notices my palm-printed thighs stockpiling C-4.

So, really, this outfit is a win-win for everyone.
