Blue Velvet

Daily Outfit, 1/23/11

The Breakdown:
  • Real Straight Jeans - Gap
  • White tee - Target
  • Honeycomb knit cardigan - Tulle
  • Cream/multi stripe scarf - ???
  • Blue velvet flats - Old Navy
I realized today, while out shopping with friends, that I love blue shoes like some people love red shoes.  These are blue velvet and I adore them; I think they're fun and funky and that the velvet is nicely unexpected.

How about you guys - do you guys wear colored flats?  Or non-flats?  Is there a color you're more drawn to than others?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend,

Gracey

  1. Those are great shoes--now that you've put them in this outfit, it's hard to imagine any other shoes with it. The subtle pattern is what makes them special.

Black shoes are by far the most well represented in my closet, but I recently picked up not one but two pairs of purple shoes--suede Mary Janes with a three-inch heel, and flat skimmers. I'm surprised how much they can be paired with; they're especially nice when everything else's a neutral.

  2. I have a lot of black shoes in my closet too, from flats to boots, but I really like the idea of deliberately pairing a colored shoe with an outfit. And I agree, it's especially nice when everything else in the outfit is neutral - it's a nice pop of color.

  3. I love grey shoes, but I think it's because I love grey everything else. However, the nifty-ness that is those blue velvets could very well have the power to sway me.

  4. As for shoes, I have a decent selection of multi-colored flats (not that I can wear them in this CRUSHING COLD AND SNOW), but really I'm drawn most to wearing red in bits and pieces lately. Have I mentioned to you how much I love your scarves? Because they're FANTASTIC!! I have official scarf envy and lust.

  5. Wow, I don't know that I've ever seen blue velvet shoes before! How cute and unique! I have a pair of pink flats, and some pink/purple/burgundy heels, but otherwise I stick mainly to neutrals and metallics.

  6. I love the print on those flats and that sweater looks great on you! I have a pair of blue and black animal print flats from payless that I love. I should have gotten 2 pairs while I had the chance. I have those same jeans! Twins!

  7. I have blue and black animal print flats too!! We're totally twins.

The sweater is from Tulle, and even though they don't carry tall or plus sizes, I've found that a lot of their knits are really long in the arms, so I give them a shot every once in awhile.

  9. I can understand how fashion can be a challenge for tall girls. Wish you well on your journey. Maybe we can follow each other? Love your scarf!

  10. I think a lot of people assume that fashion is easy for tall girls, but while there are easy aspects, it can be hard too. Especially if you're a bigger size. But, thank you for the well wishes. I will definitely stop by your blog sometime soon.
