Mossy Blossoms

Daily Outfit for Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Today is the day everybody, everywhere is wearing florals for Everybody, Everywear.  And I have been saving this vintage dress just for today:

I love the shape of this dress, but I really love the fact that it’s not your standard colors for a floral dress.  I think the browns, golds, greys and greens with the splashes of periwinkle, pink and fuchsia are very unique and interesting.  And the sort of painterly quality of the flowers is pretty cool too.  I paired the dress (handmade, vintage) with neutral flats (Kenneth Cole Reaction) and a bright pink belt (INC via Macys).  The dress has a self-belt, but I wanted to pick up a little of the color in the dress and I think this belt does it nicely.

It may not be the most spring-y dress, but I think that’ll help make it versatile enough to wear throughout the year.  I can’t wait to remix it.

To see what everyone else is wearing everywhere else, head on over to Everybody, Everywear and take a peek!

  10. Ah, this dress is perfection on its own, but even more so on you! That is the absolute perfect way to wear vintage, just pared down and elegant and completely modern.

I also love the snappy little persimmon coat you were wearing a few posts back, especially with the jeans, boots, and stripey tee. So classic! And of course I love your 80s prom ensemble!

  14. Girl, you look adorable! I am loving you in this sweet and demure dress. Now I want one just like it, haha. The belt was a great add, too.

  15. That dress fits you so well, and I'm really liking the pop of color in the belt. I would have been tempted to match the shoes and the belt colors, but then I totally suffer from Matchy-McMatchster syndrome and for that there is NO known cure.

  21. I totes missed the EBEW this time around (even though I voted and everything). I'm chalking that one up to being sick...I've just been so out of it. You look great! Love the way you belted the dress.

  24. Great dress! I love that the print is not too obvious. We are almost too used to seeing only bright and colourful florals, and muted tones work just as well! (I, for one, completely missed the whole wear-florals day...)

  25. A belated WOW on the print dress. You're right, the color combo is something that you won't see everywhere, and it's really elegant. I like the way you spiced it up with the pink. And to find a handmade dress that fits like it was made for you . . . you have such fabulous thrifting luck!
