Yes, No, Yes

Yes, my dress is sheer.  No, I’m not entirely certain it’s work-appropriate.  Yes, I wore it to work anyway:

And I loved it.  Sheerness be damned, I think this dress is fabulous.  It is, admittedly, probably more of a party dress than a work dress, but the only party I have coming up is a 90s party and this dress is from the 70s.  Besides which, I wanted to wear it now, not later, so I wore it to work.  I'm not a complete dress code rebel though, so I did wear the dress (vintage Lady Blair) layered over a navy blue slip.  I also added a black patent belt (Steve Madden via Ross) and black patent mini-wedges (Seychelles).

I guess this probably isn't the most versatile dress in my closet, given that its a sheer 70s party dress, but it will definitely remain in my closet.  And I will wear this dress again.  There is just no way in heck am I getting rid of this one.

Happy Monday, All!

  2. I think the fact that it's a dark sheer fabric makes it fine for the office. Love that splashy floral print. :) Every woman needs at least one '70s party dress ...

  3. I adore that dress! The colors are gorgeous. I have a really similar sheer vintage dress.
And I'd say it's work appropriate as long as you wear a slip under it.

  9. I'm so behind on my blog roll, and then while I was traveling I starred the posts I wanted to comment on later and then got confused, and actually think by now I've left double comments on some bloggers' posts.

No doubt they think I drink :P

This dress is completely elegant and gorgeous, and I would look great in it. Oh. My. Did I say that out loud? If we wore the same size, I would totally be begging for your closet cast offs!

  10. Beautiful dress! The fact that it's vintage makes it even better! From the photos, it doesn't look terribly sheer, but I am sure with the slip it was completely appropriate for the office. You look for pretty and polished. I love the simple accessories, it really complete the looks.

  11. Fabulous dress, fit and length! I love the print. All of it!!

I've been wearing slips under my skirts to work because I think it's probably inappropriate if you can make out the outlines of my inner thighs under the fluorescent lighting. But slips are hot and hard to find in the right length and add bulk and waahh!
