Black and Baroque

Aside from the unfortunate placement of some of the design elements, I rather like this Yves St. Clair vintage blouse:

Although I have a well-documented affection for scarf-print blouses from the 80s, I wasn’t sure about this one because it’s not very colorful.  But, I do love the pattern (baroque nipple shields aside) and really like it paired with black skinnies (a.n.a via JC Penney) and animal print wedges (80%20 via Piperlime).

I also added a filigree heart necklace (Modcloth) that I think works well with the pattern of the blouse:

I know, it’s not terribly spring-y look, but as they say, if it’s not baroque, don’t fix it.  And, in my opinion, this outfit doesn’t need any fixing.

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

  2. LOVE this shirt. Everybody needs nipple shields. You never know when a co-worker or a crazy hobo might decide to get a little too friendly, you know?

  3. Yves St Clair? Now he sounds like he might have been a distant cousin of that other Yves, you know, the St. Laurent fella. I bet he was pals with the playboy Lords, Jeff and Chet, and they all designed chunky sweaters and nipple shielded shirts together, back in the day, through the haze of cocktail fumes and cigarillo smoke.
I know you'll follow all that nonsense, even if no one else does! Anyhow, I am loving the blouse and the print and the detail of which you speak actually sits a little higher so I don't think you need to worry about unwanted attention in the boobular region. So no, no fixing required at all, Gracey! xxxx

  8. Lovely necklace and blouse pairing, they were meant to be together. On the (UK) BBC 3 radio station this month, they are having a 'Baroque Spring' and playing lots of baroque music. I thought of you when I tuned in this afternoon, it matched the drama of your blouse! You'd need a powdered wig as well though, I suppose.. to be historically accurate :-)

  10. You made me laugh with the shield comment, so I had to comment. Also every time you wear those jeans, I'll pro'bly chime in with an "I have those exact same jeans!" I have several pair of a.n.a. skinnies. They are made for fully grown women, and not teen girls, so YAY!
