Pleated and Printed

This dress has everything a gal could ask for in a vintage dress.  It's both pleated and printed:

What, exactly, it's printed with, I can't say.  It's some sort of random, 60s print:

But, that random 60s print works well with modern neutrals.

Modern neutrals like this faux leather moto and the suede boots:

Feeling Plummy

I was feeling rather plummy the other day:

And yes, it's too cold for open-toed shoes.  But, as I'm sure you know, when you're feeling plummy, that feeling doesn't end at your feet.

So, of course I had to pair my plum pants with plum shoes:

I also added a sweater that doesn't match, but goes really really well:

And then there's the scarf; I don't think it contains the color of the pants or the sweater, but it still serves to tie the two together:

Pants: LOFT  Sweater: LOFT
Scarf: sister gifted (similar)  Shoes: Franco Sarto (similar)

Prints are just the best for that, aren't they?

Form Over Function

The cut on this cardigan is definitely one of form over function:

As I said before about it, the buttons are essentially superfluous, forcing me to wear it open.  Therefore I can't wear it on really cold days because my entire front will freeze.

Happily, it hasn't bothered to be really cold here in Pennsylvania for this entire week.  In fact, it's been gorgeous and I won't even need the cardigan by this afternoon.  In the meantime though, it's perfect:

And the chevron pattern on the cardigan pairs perfectly with my layered chevron necklace:

So even though the cut is mostly impractical and the buttons are nonsensical at best, I have to say that this cardigan looks pretty cool:

Cardigan: A&Ro (similar)  Blouse: Old Navy
Necklace: Piperlime (similar)  Jeans: Gap  Boots: v. old Gap (similar)

And with that, Dear Readers, I'm happy to say I've discovered the secret of form over function: it looks cool but your belly gets cold.

Gray Leopard

The other day I was wandering through Macy's in search of a new fall lipstick when I saw this gray leopard skirt:

Of course, my search for lipstick was immediately ended when I saw this skirt.  I mean, who cares about the perfect plum when you can get the perfect sweater skirt?

And it really is the perfect sweater skirt:

I love the length, the print (of course) and the fit; it has a nice wide waist band so it's super comfortable.

And, did I mention that it was a sweater skirt?  I've convinced myself that means I can wear it all winter long:

Tights: Spanx  Boots: Born Crown (similar)

I'll let you know how that goes come January.

Teal Floral, Pumpkin Cardigan

This is one of my favorite thrifted dresses because it works for spring, summer and fall, depending on the accessories it's paired with:

This works because the floral pattern contains several different colors, including the same pumpkin-orange as my cardigan:

For today's outfit, in addition to the a pumpkin cardigan, I also added colored tights and lace-up booties:

I'm not sure I'd pair the tights, boots and cardigans otherwise, but I love how the dress ties them all together:

Dress: thrifted vintage  Cardigan: LOFT
Belt: thrifted (similar)  Tights: Target (similar)  Boots: v. old Nine West (similar)

For me, that's one of the best things about prints; they give you an excuse to wear all the colors.
