Save the Giraffes

I’m wearing my giraffe scarf again today, but sans the lion earrings.  Because, thanks to Lone Star Casie, I found out that lions do, in fact, eat giraffes.  The good news is that we’re still the top of the food chain.  The bad news is that lions are sort of mean.  Really, lions?  Giraffes?  So mean.  But, I’m doing my part to save the giraffes by keeping my giraffes and lions on separate sides of the Serengeti (the Serengeti is what I call my accessories closet).

And now to the clothes:

Today I paired my giraffe scarf (Target) with a black sweater dress (Macy’s), black snakings (Target snake leggings), black knee-highs (Nordstrom) and black riding boots (Vince Camuto “Fantastic” via Nordstrom).  I don’t often wear monochromatic outfits (What’s that?  You noticed?), but I like the mix of textures between the dress, the leggings and the boots here.  And, of course, I like the pop of pink.

Happy Tuesday!  Save the giraffes!

  1. I don't think I said this last time you wore it, but I really covet that scarf. It's extra cool. And I love the combination of black and pink!

  3. Oh gosh- how would they even get to the top of the giraffe to kill it? That's a bizarre visual! Love the bright scarf-perfect how you paired it with all black!

  4. Save the giraffes indeed! I put my scarf through the wash and dry, and for some reason, since it came out it won't stop sticking to itself! This scarf, it just doesn't want to be worn. Maybe because it's afraid of leaving the house and being eaten by a lion?

Anyhow, less about me, more about you. Black and pink is always good (my favorite color combo when I was nine!), and you're rocking it.

  6. Wish I had a detail shot of the snakings! Love that you call the accessories closet the Serengeti. I need to work on my scarf tying so I can get it all high around my neck like yours is.

  16. I love the scarf, and the way it's tied! Can you point me to an illustration of your technique? I usually end up wearing my scarves one of two typical ways. I need more variety.

  19. What a fun scarf! This is possibly my favorite way to do monochrome, with a pop of bright color.
