I’m wearing dots and ducks today. Let’s start with the ducks:
Is that not the most fabulous bow tie ever? I love it.
And what do you pair with ducks? Why, dots, of course:
Dots and ducks, folks, dots and ducks. It just makes sense. Just like boxy sweaters and silk bow ties make sense. At least for me. I’m really not even sure why, but I’ve been drawn to that combination again and again this winter. For today, I paired my boxy caramel sweater (Land’s End , thrifted) with a pleated polka dot skirt (vintage, thrifted). I added my new favorite mallard bow tie (silk, thrifted), tights (Spanx) and wedge booties (Nine West “Peekaboo” via Piperlime).
Now, I realize that I’m wearing a navy skirt with black tights, but one, I didn’t realize it until I left the house. And two, I kind of like it. Also, I know that I recommended leggings instead of tights-and-skirts for riding in the rain, but I want you all to know that no children were flashed in the wearing of this outfit.
Finally, the majority of my outfit is thrifted (bow tie, sweater and skirt) which is good because today is Thursday and Thursday’s are for Thrifters and for linking up over at Spunky Chateau.
Happy Thursday, All! Wear bow ties!
Gracey

I suppose they do go together well! I love the polka dot skirt - what a nice thrift find!
ReplyDeleteOh, cute little duckies! As for wearing navy with black, I'm all for it! I think it looks chic! I've never understood why it's supposedly a fashion faux-pas.
ReplyDeleteI love that duck neck tie. Super cute with the dots! You are just gorgeous Gracey! Kiah
ReplyDeleteGracey I love the quirky prints together and that you thrifted most of what you are wearing! economical!

Wonderful little ducks - and such a pretty all-together look. I wear black tights with navy all the time . . . is this bad? : >
ReplyDeleteI want to write something clever, but all my brain keeps saying is "Ducks! Yay!" So...
ReplyDeleteDucks! Yay!
Oh man, clothing with little animals is the best (and is very easy to find right now since it's kind of trendy)--this makes me want to break out my silk scarf with the butterflies on it. I think that'll have to wait until after the rain stops, though...
ReplyDeleteNow I want a bow tie (preferably one with ducks on it!) Adorable and I'm pretty sure I have the same umbrella!
ReplyDeleteOh, the umbrella is too good with the skirt! I have made the mistake of putting on black when I thought I was putting on navy. That's the downside of dressing without trying to wake the DH.
ReplyDeleteI love the bow tie! So fabulous. Great job mixing prints- I always admire that!
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Faerl Marie
You look so happy in this outfit! Wonderful skirt and of course paired with this bow tie, it's wonderful. I wore a lot of dots yesterday as well :) And a similar umbrella, well great minds work the same, haha :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like there are a load of fashion rules I've never heard about - I always wear black with blue, why not? I don't like rules anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteBut I like polka dots! I have a polka dotted umbrella too! :)
one of my faves! love the dot skirt and ahh the ducks! so cute!

I used to be very matchy, but I have been on a "vomit of rainbow" kick for the past year or so, and that has also led to me mixing more neutrals. I decree that black and navy work. I love the outfit.
ReplyDeleteNice umbrella so cute paired with your skirt. Betty looks!
