Lacy Gracey

True story, I was almost named Lacey.  My mom wanted to name me Lacey but my dad wanted to name me Grace after his Aunt Grace.  So, they compromised and called me Gracey.

Today though, I am also lacy (this one’s for you, Mom):

Last time I wore this necklace (Old Navy), I wore it with oxblood and there wasn’t enough contrast between the two so the necklace sort of got hidden.  Today though, I wore it with a lace sweatshirt (Macy’s) and you can finally see the detail.

In addition to the lace-on-lace, I also wore flame cords (Target), houndstooth shoes (Old Navy, thrifted via Goodwill) and added a little turquoise with earrings, bracelets and a belt (Target).

I love this belt:

And I love that today is Friday.

Also, did you all know the Super Bowl is Sunday?  Somehow I missed that.  I don’t really watch NFL though (I tend to watch more college football (mostly for the helmets)) so, I don’t think I’ll be watching the game.  How about you, Reader Friends?  Any big plans for Super Bowl Sunday?

Happy Friday, All!

Gracey

  2. thanks for shairng the story behind your name!! i LOVE the flame orange pants, and the necklace is really pretty.

all the guys in our family (brothers-in-laws) love football. plus, it's my nephew's bday today (the 1st) so we always get together over the football weekend.

  3. Ooo, love the effect of the necklace, the super-bright cords, and the depth added by that wee bit of turquoise. I don't think my parents much considered it (THANK YOU, parents!!!), but my great-aunt campaigned hard to give me a name that rhymed with my sister's.

  4. I adore this lace, and your name too - it's perfect for you! I was supposed to be "Gary" : 0

  5. Gorgeous orange pants! I don't watch sports at all, the only reason I know the Super bowl is coming up is because of all the advertising for the Puppy Bowl this year.

  6. Oh! Also it's weird, but my (maternal) grandfather's middle name is Lacey, and my father's middle name is Carol. I always thought it was funny.

  7. YAY for these pants! I completely love them on you. I had wondered why your name had that extraneous e, and now I know! (Cue 90's More You Know theme music.)

  10. Super cute outfit, I love those pants! And Gracey is a great name, my mom goes by that too! I was going to be a Jordan, but my parents changed their minds. As for the superbowl, Husby and I always go to a nearby restaurant that normally has a two hour wait and enjoy waltzing right in and enjoying a lovely, quiet dinner.

  11. Very pretty top and necklace. Gracey is such a gorgeous name and it has had an upswing in popularity lately. Hmmmm...what if they would have called you Gracey Lacey?

  12. That lace top is great and I love that you can see the necklace so well, now. (: Either way your name would have turned out without the combo, it's lovely. The combo works pretty dang well, too!

  13. A lacy top worn by Gracey bought at Macys! The rhyming is so good. I love bright trousers, and this outfit is a winner. Everything in sharp relief, if that makes sense (though that is also your good pictures!).

  15. More rhyming outfits please, if they are going to look this good! I just love Gracey looking lacey, and the necklace is definitely more striking against the pale top. And those cords are a fabulous colour - Fabulous Firey Flame! ( I am better at alliteration than rhyming...)
Names are interesting - whatever someone is called just seems right for them, I find it hard to imagine them being called anything else. Lacey is cute, but Gracey is YOU!
My OH loves American football and has Monday off work so he can stay up late to watch the Superbowl. Me? No, not so much...! xxxxx

  17. Great colours Gracey! The cream lace top is beautiful, and the perfect background for the exquisite lace necklace. The orange pants are fantastic, love them with those shoes! It does look like you're not wearing any socks? Must be nice to live a such a mild climate!

  19. Ooooh, a lace shirt. Jealous. Love the accessories, 'specially the belt. My last post is my copycat of you - I finally found a vintage dress that fit! I only tried on, like, 457 over the past six months to find it :P

  20. I love the cream lace with orange jeans - a gorgeous combination! And your accessories are perfect, as usual!

  21. You always just look so lovely. It's funny that your parents compromised on your name- I remember hearing stories like that of my siblings and I also! The hubs and I decided to be rebels and watch Lord of the Rings instead of the Super Bowl. Haha, we're nerdy like that!

  22. That's cool about how your name is a compromise between what both of your parents wanted to call you! My parents were sure I was going to be a boy until I was born, and my mom's middle name is Anne... so it's really anyone's guess where my name comes from.

I love this entire outfit, but wow these pants are just so you - they're so bright and fun!

  23. Cute story to go with a cute outfit :)

  24. What a great color combo! I love the pants and shoes especially. My name was originally going to be Robin then my parents changed it to Heather last minute. Talk about two totally different names!

  25. Ooh, I am going to recreate this look when it's warmer around here--my lace top is pink and my pants are cropped and orangey-orange, but close enough!

P.S. I love your name story--I don't know what other names I might have been called in a parallel universe, since I mostly know the story of how my dad picked my name and my mom picked the spelling (after, for my brother, my mom picked his name and my dad picked the spelling).

  26. This is a fantastic outfit and it looks fabulous on you! Love that necklace too!!

  28. Cute story about your name. I don't know the story behind my name. Maybe I was born early in the morning...that would make total sense. Anyway, I love your outfit, belt is adorable. Great color on the jeans. dawn suitcase vignettes xo
