Y’all, I was totally attacked by a bee today. Okay, he was probably just flying by, but I
reacted like it was an attack by ducking and squealing and then laughing. You know; as one does:
Not to worry though, I got it together enough to take pictures. Sort of:
Like yesterday’s color combination of tomato and violet,
today’s combination is one I’ve wanted to try for sometime. Specifically, since the EBEW Pastels
Challenge in which my lovely friend, Ana of She’s Addicted to Clothes, paired lavender
and yellow.
My lavender and lemon pairing involves a thrifted lavender
eyelet dress and a lemon-yellow cardigan (Target). I added a multi-colored belt (thrifted) which
allowed me to sneak in navy platform sandals (MRKT via DSW) and rust red earrings
because I like to ground my pastels with non-pastels.
Is there a word for non-pastels? I'm sure there is. Does anyone know what it is?
Happy Wednesday, All!
Watch out for bees!
Gracey

Non-pastels = brights? Saturated colors? Love the belt!

Ooooh lemon and lavender IS lovely! Love this ensemble, and the way the multicolored belt works in the more saturated tones. Also, the bee avoidance pics are adaaaahhhrable! I react in the same way, except without laughing and with more terror-stricken-face.
ReplyDeleteThat's what bees are for. They seem to love terrorizing us at the most inopportune times. They always swarm me when it's not socially acceptable to squawk extremely loudly.

Again with the sherbet! How do you make it look so effortless and chic?!
ReplyDeleteAnd I react like a 9-year-old girl when I see a bee. Seriously. Shrieking and squealing and running and flapping. EEEEEEEE!
gracey isn't the bee just part of the joy of spring? so glad you didn't get stung. i like this lavender ensemble. it reminds me of a garden party, with lemonade. :)
ReplyDeleteI freeze like a robot when there are bees around- not as funny a photo, I'm sure! I think maybe non-pastels is called solids? You look so sweet!

This is such a fun color combination, and that belt makes me happy, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your adventurous color combos lately. I liked the last one as well! (:
ReplyDeleteYou must have been wearing a sweet scent! Thank goodness you weren't stung.
ReplyDeleteGlad you didn't get stung. The outfit is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBees are mean! I am allergic to them and get a high fever when they sting me :( poor me, haha. Glad you are okay though! I love the pastel combo! x
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely dress! Love the colour combination!
ReplyDeleteyou are so funny! great look! xo
ReplyDeleteYou're braver than I! Bees cause me to run away, hollering, arms flapping.
ReplyDeleteSUCH a pretty dress, Gracey!
Seriously, Gracey, I am in awe. We're roughly the same size, and you are somehow able to find such a wider variety of clothes! And especially shoes! I bow to you.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever done/thought of doing some instructional posts on how/where you shop? I'd be really interested.
Grace, I'd absolutely love to do a post (or three) on this subject. Give me some time to get it together and then I'll get them posted!
DeleteThe first post I ever read on your blog is one where you were being terrorized by bees. It made me laugh, feel bad for doing so, then laugh again. Ah, memories. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're inspiring me to take lavender and yellow for a spin.

OK, DAYS late, and many dollars short, but I'm so glad you liked the lemon/lavender combo, and I just adore this whole outfit. I'm sure the bee was just trying to have a closer look at how great you looked.

Those shoes read purple via my computer screen. I was all, "OMG, where did she find shoes to match that killer dress?"
ReplyDeleteCarpenter bees have taken to teasing me during my afternoon photo sessions. So saucy! Anyway, your outfit makes me think of lemon lavender scones, so now I'm hungry. THANKS A LOT.
ReplyDeleteLove those bee shots. Adorable!
